“Sources close to the hardware” clued them in on a more PC-like, developer-friendly architecture that will run on a 1.6GHZ eight-core AMD CPU. Current dev kits are apparently running on 4GB of GDDR5 RAM. More below.
Edge mention that Sony are pushing for that figure to be scaled up to best Microsoft’s eight gigs of DDR3 by the time the console launches at the end of this year in the US and Japan, and early 2014 in Europe.

By the time these consoles come out, they'll already be 3 years behind PCs.

That's not really true. You can build a nice pc for $800 that will last you 3 years especially if you're gaming on a 1080p monitor. Now if you're gaming on a 1440p or 1600p and everything set Ultra then yea you're going to spend a lot of money.
Btw, this PC vs Console shiet is so dumb. I have a gaming PC, I will buy the next gen Xbox and PS4, and I plan on buying a decked out laptop gaming PC for work and home. I know a lot of people don't have the money for all this, but if you do why would you want to limit yourself
Another thing Consoles do have games that PC's will not get.†Italian Crew†

PC's are for people that don't hang out with friends in real life.
Consoles are for people with real life friends. (Not OP, that's for sure)

PC Gamers like PC
Console gamers like consoles
Some play on both
No one gives a chit about threads like this cause they solve fukking nothing and not going to change anyones mind. Play what you want and enjoy it, why make an "LMAO consoles suck" or "LMAO PC gaming is dead LMAO" other then to get your post count up
Negged because useless thread to try and stir up jimmies is pathetic

Even a low end PC smokes a console, nice try lowly console peasant.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/AQUY
I will summarize for you
CPU is better, 4 core vs 3 in a console
GPU clock on a console is 500mhz this one is 820 not overclocked
RAM on this build is 8GB while the 360 has 512MB
And the 1TB harddrive is 4 times the size of the console
And if you pitched in an extra $20-30 you could overclock your CPU blowing any console out of the water. GG Let me know when you want to step up the the big leagues.

OP doesnt have a clue what the hardware is like and yet hes making this thread...
the hardware is solid. THE Performance of a CONSOLE with those SPECS WILL BE DIFFERENT THAN THE PERFORMANCE OF A PC WITH THOSE SPECS. CONSOLE PERFORMANCE WITH SIMILAR SPECS TO THE PC WILL ALMOST ALWAYS OUTPERFORM THE PC(in terms of graphical performance). This is due to the nature of the console being an exclusive game-tasking machine as opposed to the multitasking purpose of a PC. Along with game optimization that will be calibrated to run in that SPECIFIC HARDWARE SET UP as OPPOSED TO PC's WHICH HAVE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DIFFERENT SET UPS. THE FACT IS, THESE CONSOLES DO NOT NEED THE MORE POWERFUL HARDWARE THAT MATCH PC's BECAUSE THEY ARE DIFFERENT!

Well done, except you just spent 4x the cost of a console and you still don't have a monitor, mouse, keyboard, or even an OS.
I also like how you assume that I don't have a beast PC as well. I'm already in the "big leagues" *******. I'm just not in denial about PCs shortcomings vs. console.
Also good luck overclocking that i3 with stock intel heatsinks. They're garbage.

It appears your jimmies are easily rustled (and the most rustled in this thread apparently).
If negging makes them rustle less, then by all means sir.
What you described is a closed-device, which has nothing to do with the point of this thread. Of course games are easy to optimize when all the hardware is the same.
"CONSOLE PERFORMANCE WITH SIMILAR SPECS TO THE PC WILL ALMOST ALWAYS OUTPERFORM THE PC(in terms of graphical performance)."
K, chief.
I swear you console *******s are really sensitive.
