How beneficial has ******** been for your business?
Do you get many leads through ********?
Do you use it as a promoting tool or do you use it as an information tool for clients?

******** is about the worst promotion you can have IMO. Its easy to make a page, and you can have fun with it which is why I have one. I have helped people all over the world with questions, but I haven't gotten one lead from it. ******** is looked at as FREE and PUBLIC, so not many people go on there looking to spend money. It is more of a tool for my clients and a fun way to get my name out there. Better ideas for promoting are actual local advertisement or simply making your own website. Just my own personal 2 cents

Agreed. FB will treat you just like every other marketing tool. You gotta spend money to make money. There are far better places to spend your money than FB. Get one, use it to promote to friends, update hours, status and upcoming events/specials you might be having but that's about it. Don't put too much time or energy into it.

Social networking is huge and can be a fantastic way of promoting your service but it all depends how you tackle it, there are many many people on social networking trying to promote themselves so do something eye catching like for example offer free advice for now, keep the followers up to date and upload pictures of clients you have been dealing with - almost like a before and after. People following your page will react and think "hang on a minute, if he can do it so can i, i better contact you".
Hopefully this has helped slightly

I'm going to guess that those who are bashing it have not actually used it. Check my other thread for some info but here's the summary.
My first facility got nothing from ********. Google worked much better.
My new facility gets about 5 leads every single week from it. We've already had 6 people sign up who found us from ********, within only 1 month of opening our doors.
Know your area, know the people you're catering too, and think about what they would use.
Facility 1 = Upper class. Old Italian and Greek. Median age of clients 40
Facility 2 = Young, yuppies, people who can't afford Manhattan but want the lifestyle. Trendy. Median age of clients 27http://sagefit.wordpress.com/

I currently have a $15 per day ad running on ******** and its been the best investment I've made yet. However just remember what I said about knowing the area. This is a young yuppie area. It works because of that. If it was blue collar construction workers rest assured ******** ads would not work for them
