Ughhhh this, please this. I'm not gonna read through this thread calling people out for recommending self-medication for suspected depression but please don't do it, don't self-medicate and don't recommend it to anyone EVER

Really working on yourself is usually the only way to actively address the issue(s). Self-medication (and, unfortunately, prescribed medication) often only covers up the issue(s) without ever "solving" them.

Sometimes medication does help, but *even when a doctor suggests it* I would opt for no medication and real therapy to help you get better.

I've noticed it anecdotally. Placebo possibly? Very well could be. I did also say may provide some mood enhancement. I thought I read something about ALCAR's effect on the dopaminergic system, but I'm sure you already have a rebuttal for why that's incorrect.

On your other note, I wouldn't suggest self-medication for individuals who feel they may be suffering from depression and in fact have been against it in other threads.

Definitely! While I was about to complete the order, the thought of buying Pramiracetam or even Oxiracetam came into play. But I decided I would start with this stuff first and see how it goes.

How many people have just jumped into an advanced stack instead of a beginner's stack, when they were indeed beginners?

I went from alcar to alcar & aniracetam to alcar & noopept. I am ordering another bulk supply of noopept to see if I have better luck as well as some piracetam. I will report back if I have good results.

Its main target is obviously the cholinergic system (which isn't something you want to tinker with if the individual has major depression).

Just got an email about Antaeus Labs dropping a pheynlpiracetam product. Obviously way cheaper to just buy bulk powders, but what are your thoughts about racetams being sold on a more "mainstream" sight I guess? Good thing or bad?

That site has been selling Piracetam for a while now, and SNS used to have Piracetam so it really hasn't been in the dark. That being said the only bad that could come out of it would be an FDA crackdown.

I like how the racetams are getting to be a bit more mainstream, and other nootropics in general. I've actually heard a few people at a coffee shop talking about Pramiracetam and Noopept a while back. I don't think too much bad could come from this, unless noots and racetams garner enough attention to mess with big pharmacy's money which in turn would likely cause a FDA crackdown.

I bought noopept (my first nootropic), and did not get any effect whatsoever. I even took a higher dose than I was supposed to after a few weeks thinking maybe I'm just tolerant to it. Still nothing. Would it be worth trying piracetam even if noopept did nothing to me? Supposedly noopept is supposedly a lot stronger but I don't know if that's true.. Let me mention that I took it along with about 350-500mg of Choline Bitartrate.

Some people dont respond well or at all to Noopept and maybe you could try taking it without choline to see if that helps. That being said it is a more potent substance meaning you don't need as much to get the desired effects but the effects of Noopept from my experience kind of wore off after a few weeks and now I just use it once in a while. Give piracetam a shot it works well for me and does for a lot of others who use it.
