    Direct Mail Campaigns

How many of you have used a direct mail campaign? Is it easy to set up? Do you have any tips or tricks?

Overall they're quite easy to setup (depending on how web savvy you are). We usually use Campaign Monitor as their interface and overall product is put together very well.

Other options you have are: Mail Chimp, AWeber, Mad Mimi (there's a couple of other's too but these four are quite popular)

    Tips:
    - Keep the emails mostly text based, not image heavy (images don't load automatically on most email clients)
    - Make sure that the people you're sending to have given you explicit permission to send them emails of this nature (this is quite important)
    - "Unsubscribe" links are a must
    - Most of the providers above provide templates that are good looking so you don't really need much design work done (possibly just a banner)

Happy to answer other more specific questions you may have.
