Effective 1 on 1 Basktball Moves

How many times have you seen a video of someone hit with a killer crossover move so deadly that they literally fall to the ground?

We all want to have the ability to handle the basketball like a pro, but it isn't something that can happen overnight. Great ball handling ability has to be developed just like anything else. There are however, moves that are effective and can be used right away.

The first move that the professionals use is the crossover dribble. This move is also known as the killer crossover which is a more advanced version of the crossover dribble. When learning how to handle a basketball, the first move most people try to perform is the crossover dribble. This is a deadly move that can be used to embarrass even the greatest defenders.

The crossover dribble used by NBA players such as Allen Iverson, Steve Nash, Chris Paul and Tim Hardaway only proves how effective this move can really be. If you want to get past your defender off the dribble, this is a move you have to master.

Another great move used by the pros is the behind the back dribble. The behind the back dribble can be most effective when dribbling on the move and changing direction. This move also works effectively when the defender forces you one direction and you want to go in the opposite direction. You can start by dribbling in the direction the defender forces you, and then use the behind the back dribble to go in the other direction. This move can be used to keep the basketball away from the defender and set up your next move.

Now this next move is most effective once you've used the crossover dribble more than once, and you can't shake your defender. You can use the double crossover which the pros use to get to the basket with ease. The double crossover is exactly what it says, two crossovers used right after the other. This move is used quickly and can have your defender looking foolish. This move is important to have in your arsenal because most defenders expect a simple crossover dribble so when you use the double crossover this will make you difficult to defend.

The spin move is also a great move that most basketball pros have in their arsenal. A spin move is when you complete a full 360 spin with the basketball. Once you complete the spin continue to dribble the basketball in order to make the move legal.

The spin move is effective when you are being guarded closely while going to the basket. If you were being forced left by the defense, you could go left and then spin right to get back on the right side of the defense if you chose to.

These moves have been proven to work on the toughest defenders. If you want to handle the basketball like a pro you will need these moves in your arsenal.
