    Hey all,

I wanted to know is it ok to just have a slow absorbing protein shake with a banana as a meal replacement for breakfast? Or should i go for the traditonal oats, eggs? etc?

    It's irrelevant.

You can consume protein from "fast" or "slow" absorbing processed fast foods (protein shakes in this case) or whole foods or minimally processed foods for breakfast or at anytime of the day. Or you can skip consuming a meal in the morning if that's your preference.

What matters is total daily intake calories and micro/macronutrient sufficiency.

You're very confused. IIFYM's is not a diet. It's basically just the long established principle of DCA.
