The questions should be...do you have the know-how to be a personal trainer? 99% of the personal trainers I've seen at gyms don't know sh*t. A good personal trainer should have knowledge about anatomy, diet, various training methods, and a little medical ability to boot.
As for you, your a big dude....congrats!

95% of the personal trainers I've seen don't eevn look like they work out. Size doesn't matter, you just gotta pass the test."The man who has no imagination, has no wings."-Mohammed Ali

You need to bring up your traps, and Im guessing your legs are small.
PT-ing is not about size. Some of the most knowledgeable people in the sport that i have ever had the pleasure to converse with arent PRO style huge, Big Cat for example, but his knowledge seems endless! Some of the Pro's are still advocating glutamine for crying out loud. Size does not always equal knowledge.

does size help at least a bit in terms of motivating clients? I'm thinking of becoming a PT because I want to become a nutritionist eventually.....one day at a time

it's not about size or knowledge really, it's about how well can you sell yourself and how charasmatic you are.
Moderators, I thought Amusclehead was permanently banned to the Fortified Iron forum (at least for a cooling off period of six months)??

You have to pass the test, which isnt just about lifting weights and knowing what muscles they work.
You have to be able to do math, figure out the muscle stress tests, as well as prescribe routines, regimes for people with injuries and so on
Arthur Jones, the creator of Natilus was full of knowledge about the body and training but didnt do it himself. He used it to help others.Last edited by JonZ; 03-26-2004 at 11:22 AM.

If you have the ability to put a 5lb plate on each side of a Smith machine and have your clients do 1/4 rep squats while their knees slowly shatter, you'll be just as good as 95% of the trainers out there.....
