What to do to fall asleep faster?

Well, I have not so very mild cases of insomnia every so often, by that I mean I usually just go to bed, and I am wide awake for hours, which is bad since I have school the day after that and don't get my 8 hrs or so of sleep. Also I have sleep problems in general, like waking up several times a night etc.

What I read will help and will do today.

    200mg tab of magnesium
    chamomil tea,
    meditation

    any other suggestions?
    No melatonin or meds.

If you consume any type of stimulant, allow six hours between the time you take it and when you sleep.
