What has caused it, IMO:
-men being raised by single mothers - no strong male figure in life
-told by educators to pursue their passions instead of what makes money/is productive
-brought up to believe that it is ok to fail, because the government will provide for you if you do
-doing drugs and not working out is cool
-broad, open-arms acceptance of homosexuality

Lived with parents for most of my life but going to uni later this year
Not even once hoping to get a degree in Economics in 3/4 years
Never done drugs for recreational purpose

The Occupy movement isn't an outgrowth of people's "betaness." It's got little to do with individuals at all. It's a backlash against decades of neoliberalist policies that has systematically deepened the wealth gap in America to levels resembling third world countries (and those countries themselves have been subject to the same policies that overwhelmingly benefit a few extortionist multinationals and corrupt government officials for an even longer time). Please educate yourself OP. The very meaning of "beta males" is under threat of being so severely diluted in meaning from overuse on these forums so as to denote in practice little more than something a guy does/expresses that you personally disagree with.
