I think that the process for getting a pro card from European countries actually is an application, not an award for winning a show per se. The standard way is to win a big international or your countries biggest national show and then apply and get it, but you can apply for a pro card anyways and if you're considered good enough you'll get it.

Excellent answer. I've heard people use the term petition, so I was thinking along the same lines. He placed 1st on two separate occasions at the Arnold Classic Amateur. Credentials like that are hard to overlook.

He does have a chance in 212 but i don't think his weight is under 212.

Yea I think it's reserved for just that scenario: people who win their weight class multiple times but can't win the overall title. I mean, if you're a really good 180lb guy in the US you can win a pro card since the nationals give cards to all the class winners. In Europe you generally need to win the overall title, which a 180lb guy for obvious reasons never will when standing next to heavyweights. So the organization needs a way to reward top performance with pro cards without overall victories.

Yeh the 212s are a great idea.
Train all year, spend god knows how much on prep, compete in a very competitive division, the winner gets less than the bikini girls... Great idea.

True, far from impressive conditioning the last two shows. I agree that he could've been 212 on stage this time. But that leaves him no room for further growth. I think he will be a much better open class bb'er than 212 class. I think that 5'6 is a bit tall for the 212 actually

I'm surprised at people thinking the 212 isn't a better idea for him. He is barely top 10 IMO at the O. 212 he's an easy winner if he can diet down to it. At his size he could even over diet, come in flat, and still win.

I dig this kid, and feel he deserves the Pro Card. His physique warrants it in my opinion. Much more impressive than the couple of recent Pro Card winners from the Nationals, and that's being nice about it.

Dexter is like 220-230 during contest and won an Olympia so I think he's good.

the last bunch of shows hes competed in he's looked like he was 5 weeks out, he can easily get rid of 10 pounds of water alot with 5 pounds of fat and win a 212 show. Over time maaayyybe he can compete in the open but not anytime soon. This goes without saying he's still an amazing young bodybuilder with a bright futur, i wish i had half his genetics!

Come on... People were saying this back when he was 17 and much smaller that he is now.. He is as tall and as wide as branch, who is wider than both Dex and Phil... He is also still young and has a lot of great muscle attachments.. He can easily pack ok another 10lbs and fix the conditioning.. Imagine Branchs frame with better muscle bellies and you got.it... He can most def be competitive in the open in the next few years..
