Am i eating enough calories?
I am 27 yrs old, 5'11" and weigh 295 (down from 305 3 weeks ago). My goal is to get down to 235 lbs. I currently have been working out 4 day per week and have followed a 2200 calorie diet very strictly. I have been reading about calorie defecits and have plugged my goals and stats into various calorie calculators and keep getting different numbers (2200 calories to 3900 calories). Am i eating enough carloies? Where should i be? Please help, thanks!

As you are quite obese you can cut at a larger deficit if you wish

I'd start in the middle, around 3000, and adjust as needed.

Ya I would start somewhere in the middle and stay with that for a couple weeks. If you like the results you are seeing then stick with it, but if you're not seeing any results or want more results maybe lower you're calorie intake and repeat. Also make sure to try and keep everything else you do the same such as you're workouts because you don't want to change you're workouts and have it skew you're results.

Read the stickie here to learn the basics on calculating caloric/macro needs...http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=121703981
After you determine your maintence, eat at you maintence for a couple weeks and monitor any weight changes.
If your weight doesn't change then you've found your maintence.
From there subtract or add 10-20% based on goal.

As I think you'd agree, he can get away with a more dramatic calorie restriction than would be the case for a relatively lean individual, his protein intake can be based off of lean body mass, and dietary fat requirements are dramatically lower (though consuming more fat is not bad, but it's not essential either).

Get 200g of protein a day, eat some veggies, and hit 2500cals. 2500cals of decent food is enough to fill you up. The weight will drop off you. Best of luck!

Yes!, your absolutely right on that. He has an abundance of energy already on his body. Good point!
