    Question Men's physique. Stats?

Men's physique has become more and more appealing to me over time, to the point I'm interested in trying a competition in a year or so. The drug usage in bodybuilding is a huge turn off to me for one, and at this point, getting anywhere near the size id need is way way way down the road naturally.

I'm aware the judging in men's physique is very subjective. You might be too bulky at one competition, but place well at another, too dry in your conditioning, etc. I'm looking for an objective goal to work toward though. What sort of size are these guys? Im not able to find much more information beyond heights and weights of a few competitive guys.

At 5'9-6'1" what sort of measurements are arm size, waist, chest, shoulders, and calves?

A good start is to look up the ideal Greek body proportions for your height. It's pretty hard to get to those exact proportions, but you'll look pretty damn good in the pursuit.

I competed three times last year in various Men's Physique competitions. First competition I was 195, around 8% BF and got 7th. In the next two competitions I was about 188lbs, around 5% BF range and got 3rd in both. The judging is very confusing and seems to vary greatly at each event. When I competed in the New Hampshire Championships, the guy who got 2nd ahead of me finished last the following week in Boston. At the New England Championships, which was a big show, the two guys who placed ahead of me were much smaller. I am competing on the National level this year and it seems you need to be pretty big to do well there. We'll see this summer I guess.

I find the best way is to just look at other competitors who have done it and are now pro's. Find someone that has similar height to you and take it from there. It is more about how you carry yourself. Each district is also different going by size of an individual. Some districts think that someone who once was a bodybuilder and looks like they should be is now a physique competitor.

do you have pictures of said 5% nohomo. If you were a legit 5% with solid proportions you must have been competing in a pretty damn hard show to not win lol

that's why I love competing in men's physique, juice ain't going to help you. I refuse to take anything, so staying natural for me is more important, that's why I love that there's a division that's aimed at the overall healthy look, it's your presence combined with physique that matters, not how humongous you are. Even in the description of Physique, it says present your physique as best as YOU think is possible. Btw, I compete at 190lbs - 5'11, I don't measure chest, arms, etc, don't know my bf % either.
    Sincerely,

Honestly bro, what I'd recommend isn't going to be specifics for height and weight, what I'd recommend for you to make a splash in men's physique would be to just get to a decent size, but not quite bodybuilder size. Do not aim to get excessively lean, but aim for a good 6 pack with some good obliques as well. 5% is probably a good level to aim for. Hope this helps a bit.

What does gear have to do with anything..? Not going to help you..? You bring it up like it's not prevalent in physique competitions.. Lol..

Congrats on your achievements if you don't use.. Congrats if you did.. Doesn't make you any more noble than any other IFBB competitor, or merit more respect..

And that's your opinion.. But unfortunately.. Nobody like you or myself will get to the olympia stage from hard work and dedication even with drugs.. It's called genetics.. And to win you need both.. True..

Thank you. I brought it up because OP said he refuses to take anything and I just agreed with what he said, regardless of what others say, you don't need gear to compete in MP.

I personally know a few that are open about using, some keep it on DL, quite a few straight out lie and say they don't use when they do, and then there are clean athletes. I'm not bashing juice, by any means. People can do what they like, for people like myself it's a personal statement not to use and push the boundaries of natural abilities and further.

Well with Men's Physique being put in Olympia this year, that statement may just go out the window..
