How important is the deload phase to 5/3/1

This. I thought you were doing Westside. Are you now jumping off the ship and going to 5/3/1? Have you bought the book or done any research? Even the most basic 5/3/1 article tells you how to deload and why you should deload.

I know I can still get more gains I want to try 5/3/1 because its not as hardcore and I need something less advanced to help bring my partner up to speed. Don't act like u know why I'm doing things dickcheese

then dont do a deload for 3 months.

orly? your question was answered in the first post. you start with what the damn book says (since you are not experienced enough to know more than what has already been laid out) and then if you plateau all the time take more deloads, or take less if you can recover enough. it's pretty damn cut and dry with that stuff.

Why would you ever do a de-load in the first place? If your not liftng heavy your not making gainz brah. Also dont forget to take your protein shake 30 minutes after your workout or no gainz.

IMO you need to just go by feel/common sense. If you train 3 days a week the deloads are probably less important than if you train 4 or more. It's probably more important to deload after the waves in the later stages of the program than in the beginning of the program. If you are feeling like a total beast and feel good and healthy than maybe skipping a deload and just riding it out might be an option. Transversely if you are feeling run down and have tons of aches and pains then take the deload as prescribed.

I'm no expert but I did read the book last week. Wendler admits the gains aren't super fast in this program, but it is something to consistently gain strength long term. That is why he doesn't have you lift to failure (except maybe on last set), and not train at max weights. If you are doing the program, I'd assume you are buying into his philosophies. Part of his long term plan is for deload weeks to let the body repair itself. So I'd say include the deload weeks or find a different program.
