    PHAT: substitute for upright rows?

    Hi all,

    Is there am exercise I can sub in to replace upright rows? These mess up my wrists a lot.

    they hurt my wrists when i go too heavy. if your wrists arent strong enough then you're limited to the weight you can use.
    I'd suggest using a plate ( a lot more comfortable) , or getting low enough weight that it wont hurt

    They're definitely not a necessary exercise.
    Maybe add in some more Lat raises, or if you think that's uneccessary either just delete it, or replace with another back exercise.

    Try doing them with DBs instead of the BB. Lets your hands/arms be in a more natural position. I noticed last time i did them, I didn't get any pain in my rotator cuff like when I use the BB(which is why I don't do BB upright rows anymore unless it's wide grip, but for that you don't pull as high)

    i think DB shrugs will always work the traps better than upright rows 10 times out of 10
    sets of 8-12 with a mississippi count at the top

    and if you have the equipment for it cleans and snatches
