Disagree, Jay came up against Ronnie in his prime and was constantly pushing himself to match Ronnie's level. Whilst Ronnie was still miles ahead of Jay, I don't believe Phil would have fared as well against him. If Jay preps and comes in like he did in hid prime and brings the complete package of mass an conditioning he'll surprise a lot of you doubters. Not saying he'll win necessarily, but counting him out and making statements like you did which make out Phil is that far ahead is ludicrous given Jay's history and all.

We have different views then, because I see Phil closer to a prime Ronny than a prime Jay was. This, plus I find it unlikely that Jay will match his prime shape.
That being said, I like Jay and think he's still one of the greatest out there. I'd be glad to see him proving me wrong.Sports Therapy- & Prevention Major - University of Potsdam

Three points for you to consider:
1. Phil dethroned Cutler in 2011, although he was the current Mr.O (history of the Mr.O shows that this is big)
2. Phil dethroned Cutler in 2011, although he was current Mr.O and on (this makes it even bigger)
3. Phil dethroned Cutler in 2011, although he was current Mr.O, on and close to his (prime) shape from 2009 (coming back to the original argument)
Thus, I see no reason why Cutler should beat him this year if both come in on. Unless we haven't seen Jay's prime yet and he improves compared to 2009/2011. Which again, is rather unlikely I guess.Sports Therapy- & Prevention Major - University of Potsdam

Yeah, I don't think that affected his placing. Take a look at Branch or Dorian, winning shows with half a body. Judges don't seem to care a whole lot about that as long as the size and conditioning is still there. At least as long as you are a legend, which Jay clearly is with 4 Sandows.

It would be pretty close, yeah. We'll see, the Mr.O this year is gonna be epic with Phil, Kai, Jay, Victor, Ced, Dex, Shawn etc etc. Probably the most competitive in years!

His left triceps looks funny to me in the parking lot. I think it's the angle.
I am sure he can start making waves again but not for long. He is getting into more businesses and that can be exhaustive going to every fitness expo to sling his merch. I did that for 2 years but it can burn you out fast. Good to see he has people working for him. That helps out a lot. It is fun to travel do expos.

Even if Phil can comes in 2011 size and condition (2012 he was was smaller and less conditioned) and jay can come in looking like 09 there is nothing phil can do becuase jay will always have the wider/bigger frame his shoulder girdle makes him look a lot bigger then anyone else.
The same goes with kai he is wider then phill and if he comes in like last year but fuller and not as flat he could have the title.
I hope all 3 come at there all time best (jay wont look like a younger jay but maybe an 09 repeat is possible)
If this does happen and jay comes in like 09 or even 2010 I think he win because he is still the more marketable guy in the eyes of the IFBB.

Jay was not on in 2011. He was also nowhere near close to his prime. It was actually one of jays worst showings ever, having his legs come down in size, his back was missing a chunk of muscle and completely soft in some mandatories, his right shoulder was even smaller than usual and then there was the ridiculous biceps. Symmetry and proportion were off, condition was nowhere near close to heaths, jay looked like he had more mass because he was wider but phil was much thicker overall.
In other words, phil completely dominated a very bad showing of jay. Nobody would dominate a prime showing of jay, besides ronnie.

Most people would argue 2009 was Jay's prime showing. Even then, his back looked a bit soft:
Thick, massive, impressive - but not diced or something.
He looked very similar in '11:
Besides that biceps-issue, he was actually far from off:
Of course nobody would "dominate" a prime Jay. I just don't think his prime package would be "without a doubt" enough to beat the current Mr.O, like others are suggesting it. Sounds like Phil would be no match for an '09 Cutler, which is ridonkulous.Sports Therapy- & Prevention Major - University of Potsdam
