    Talking Jalfrey--MuscleTech's Anabolic Halo Deliciousness! v 2.0

I've got to open with a big thank you to MuscleTechJake and the rest of his new (and improved) MuscleTech team here on the boards. I am always grateful to companies that are willing to put their products on the line for honest review. Their new Performance Series is impressive. I have had the opportunity to sample a couple of MuscleTech's new products from that line and approve of both the Cell-Tech and Nitro-Tech. The best looking thing in the Performance Series so far, though, is Anabolic Halo!

    http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/mu...olic-halo.html

Anabolic Halo takes 7 of the top factors for recovery and mass building and puts them all into one complete post-recovery shake! You want whey protein? Antioxidants? Creatine? BCAAs? Both quck and slow-release carbs? Electrolytes? How about glutamine? It's all in there!

Anabolic Halo Performance Series by MuscleTech is a post-workout mass-builder that combines 40 grams of protein with a number of other muscle-building compounds. Among these compounds are 6 grams of BCAA’s, 5 grams of Glutamine & Glutamic Acid, and 5 grams of Creatine Monohydrate. Anabolic Halo Performance Series also includes a multi-stage carbohydrate blend to help promote glycogen replenishment and cell volumization. The inclusion of so many different ingredients necessary for muscle growth and recovery makes Anabolic Halo Performance Series a fairly comprehensive solution for mass-building support.

Profile--Pretty solid. One scoop gets you the following:
    Glutamine/BCAA Matrix
    L-Glutamine and L-Glutamic Acid 2.5g, L-leucine 1.4g, L-Valine 0.8g, L-isoleucine 0.8g
    Multi-Phase Carb System
ModCarb Slow-digesting carbohydrates 3g (Oat, Amaranth, Quinona, Buckwheat, Millet, Chaia)
    Muscle Growth and Recovery Complex
Creatine Monohydrate 2.5g, Tart Cherry Concentrate 250mg
    Cell Volumizing Compounds
    L-Alanine 0.75g
    Active Digestive Enzymes
    Papain 25mg, Amylase 25mg

In my Anabolic Halo Deliciousness v 1.0 review, I mention that I thought the 1 scoop serving was a bit underdosed. So I'm going to use 2 scoops of Halo after each workout. I'm currently following Gethin's DTP protocol. I've modified it for 5 days a week and to hit chest twice. It looks like this--

    Mon-Chest and Back
    Tuesday-Legs
    Wed-Cardio
    Thursday-Arms
    Friday-Shoulders and Chest

I started using Anabolic Halo on Thursday and it's taste is just as awesome as I remembered. It's more of a smoky dark chocolate flavor than just a run-of-the-mill chocolate. It's a complex flavor that makes me want to savor the shake instead of just slugging it back after a workout. Definitely one of, if not the best, chocolate shakes I've ever had!!

My recovery has been great over the past couple of days. I'll elaborate more on that in Tuesday's entry after nuking my chest and back on Monday. Thanks for stopping in!

M-Town and Kwayzee! Team MuscleTech already getting the party started!

Koweanguy, good to see you too, bro! I thought it would be bad too. But I've just added decline bench and taken out the upright rows. I started it this past Friday when I noticed that my triceps weren't sore after using Anabolic Halo. As long as I keep my elbows flared out, it takes the arms out of the equation and helps me concentrate on form when I do feel them burning. I'll start listing my workouts on Monday, too.

    Here;s a quick look at today's workout--

    1/21
    Superset
    DB Flat Press--30x45s, 20x50s, 15x55s, 10x65, 8x70s, 6x80s, 4x90s
DB Rows (elbows in)--Same reps and weights, 60-90s performed one arm at a time

    Superset
    DB Incline--Reverse of above
DB Rows (elbows out)--Same as incline

I've been practicing IF since the first of the year and getting great results on leaning out. I usually sip on 15-20 grams of BCAAs for a few hours after my workout. But for this log, I'm going to and have been following the instructions of consuming Halo directly after workout. Ths morning was killer on my chest so I'm really looking forward to seeing how I feel in the morning. I'm also hoping to get up a video showing how smoothly this stuff mixes!

    Thanks for stopping in!

There has been a lot of talk about IF, especially on these forums. Never tried.

I was skeptical. But after the first 3-4 days, it just feels right. Plus, having a big meal to break the fast really helps knock out the urges to cheat on the weekends. I usually workout from 5:30-6:30 in the morning, sip 15-20 grams BCAAs during workout and through the morning and then eat from 12:00 to 8:00. I haven't lost any muscle either, just fat ; )

    Yesterday's damage report--
    1/22
    Leg press--50x448, 40x538, 30x628, 20x718, 10x808, 10x828, 20x738, 30x648, 40x558, 50x468

    Calf raises--20x448, 12x538, 8x628

Quick question, I made a video this morning where I used a shaker cup and water for Halo instead of milk and blender. In talking about Halo's texture, I accidentally mentioned another company's product in comparison.
Should I make another video or just run the video as is? It'll be another week before I have a cardio day and use water. Any opinions?

I changed up things a bit yesterday. I've been seeing good results on my chest with the normal DTP routine, but I just needed something different.

    1/27
    Superset
    Hammer Incline Press--30x128, 20x148, 15x168, 10x188, 8x208, 6x228
    Hammer Low Row--30x98, 20x118, 15x128, 10x138, 8x158, 6x178

    Superset
    Pec Deck--6x220, 8x205, 10x190, 15x175, 20x160, 30x145
    Reverse Pec Deck--6x175, 8x160, 10x145, 15x130, 20x115, 30x85

    DB Pullover--20x25

Today I kept it the same. I think it's worth noting that I've been able to consistently add 20lbs to my leg press weight weekly during this log.

    1/28
    Leg Press--50x468, 40x558, 30x648, 20x738, 10x828
    10x848, 20x758, 30x668, 40x578, 50x488

Ouch... finishing stronger than I started again ; )

My recovery has been going so well with Halo that I may hit chest again tomorrow instead of cardio. We'll see how I feel in the morning.

    Thanks for stopping in guys!

That's not a bad idea for warm up. I might try it sometime. I was doing yesterday to get a good stretch on.

Btw, just cardio and some ab work today. My chest feels good, but I don't want to overdo it, I guess.

Thumbs up An end to the deliciousness...

After 3 weeks of using Halo. I have to say that I believe in it as an awesome recovery product! Even after switching rep schemes by body felt good with no DOMS!

That was using 2 scoops instead of one, which breaks down to about $3.13 a serving. Not cheap, but not too bad if you consider all the supps that Halo covers.

It's hard for me to give a final review to recovery items or proteins. Especially for a shorter log like this one. I didn't include pics because I didn't think 3 weeks would be enough time for anyone but myself to notice a size difference. So in closing, I'm just going to give my thanks to Jake and the rest of the incredible MuscleTech team he has assembled here on the boards. Thanks to my fellow loggers that have been popping in here. Sorry that I'm so slack on posting in your logs.

I just want to say that Anabolic Halo helped me to recover very quickly, again no DOMS! I'm one of those dummies that measures the previous day's workout by how sore I am the next day, so the lack of soreness was hard to get used to, but I like it. I also have to say that Halo is still the best tasting chocolate protein I've had yet. Of course, I have a tub of Phase-8 chocolate that I'm going to rip into this week. Based on how tasty Phase-8 vanilla is, that chocolate should be awesome!

Anabolic Halo gets the thumbs up from jalfrey, it works!
