Because they're a recognizable company to the uneducated public, with little competition and employees who work on commission. So they can gorge prices.

The main reason why GNC is more expensive is it is franchised. People have to pay a fee to own a GNC so the prices have to be higher so they can make a profit. People who do not trust online or do not know better go in and buy with their sales. They usually pay more even then.

Yeah some GNCs have a clearance section, with protein that is "close" to expiration. While it is usually still many months away and I will long have finished the tub. Still they mark the price down pretty cheap sometimes. I think I got the 4.4lb tub of Nitro tech whey by muscle tech for like 33 dollars once. And GNC brand albs protein for like 40.

But everything else in the store is ridiculously overpriced.

People believe it to be their only option in regards to supplements. GNC knows this and they milk it. Some of my friends have been a part of this group, until I informed them of.. The Internet.

I do like gnc and vitamin world when I am out and about or traveling. I will pick up RTD shakes, bars and sometimes if I run out of whey or something while on vacation it is convenient to stop in

That being said I am probably there 2 or 3 times a year max
