Is Cardio necessary even tho Im taking a calorie deficit?
my maintenance is 2400, 20% less is 2100 calories.
however i want to do HIIT for cardio. (1 min 6.0-9.0mph and 1 min 3.0-4.0mph) for about 30 mins.
for some reason a lot of the posters dont like cardio..
so im asking the people who have actually lost healthy weight.. is cardio necessary when im having a calorie deficit?
PS. dont wanna lose any lean muscle because i want to get to 170-175lbs with 11%bf.

No.. Cardio is just another tool to help you be in a calorie deficit... and why use a screwdriver(cardio) when you can use a drill(deficit)
I guess cardio is always good thou to keep your heart healthy and in a fit state.
But as for defecit... No, if you can do it by calories, cardio is not needed

Yeah of course, i love mountain biking, i dont really class it as cardio as i enjoy it, so even thou i eat at -500 below maintenance, i know im burning more when i go for my bike rides, so in turn i could eat more calories if i tracked it.. So just like your self, its up to you, if your running for half an hour at say 10mph, track it and eat the calories you run of keeping you in desired deficit

Eating 100 cals less a day or running a mile. Which would you rather do?
Yes I'm 60 and no I'm not on HGH or Test

Not necessary. But there's still plenty of benefits to doing cardio (high or low intensity). If you enjoy it, have fun. If you hate it, just plan your diet according to your needs and skip it.

Yeah! say your Maintenance is at 2100 and you cut -500 for deficit 1600 and then you burn 300 calories running, your now at 1300 which is pretty low and you (MAY) feel the fatigue after running on 1300cals! so Just bump them back upto 300 calories (depending what you burnt running)
All about calories
