I see that all figure girls wear high-waisted bottoms but I dont see anywhere on the NPC website that this is required. Are high-waisted bottoms a rule or a preference?

Are you talking about the leg straps that go over the obliques? I suppose it is preference, but you won't find a figure girl not wearing that style. It shows off the waistline and legs much better than a bikini cut which can make your hips look wide. The only rule for figure suits is that the bottoms must be modest (i.e. no thongs).

The higher the leg is cut, the longer your's will look. It's a dated look, but it really is flattering to lean bodies.

You will not place well in a bikini bottom if doing figure as the bikini is not flattering and detracts from the look the judges desire.
True the suits are very revealing, but once you are glued in it feels much better as it won't travel up the wazoo.Coming out of "retirement"...Meg is training for a Figure competition...again!!!
