Coffee - 2 weeks out from show

Quick question for everyone -
I drink a large cup of coffee every morning with 2 tsp of non dairy creamer and 2 packets of sweet n low.
I am 2 weeks out from my next contest -
should I cut the coffee out of my diet until the Friday before my show ?
This way I get an additional diuretic effect from the coffee?
Any other opinions are most appreciated!!!

Lauri

the problem with a diuretic of any kind is you lose water from under the skin and water out of the muscle cell itself. If you lost it out of only one place it would screw up your cells osmotic pressure... if this happened they could lyse (expload) since thats bad your body keeps it the same by losing certain % of water from both the subcutaneous layer and the intracellular water. I would personally stop drinking the coffee and not worry about adding it back in. On the whole diuretics are a waste unless your using anabolic steroids.

I don't think the diuretic effect of coffee is that pronounced. But I also don't see any negatives to drinking the coffee up until the show. I would however, think about cutting out the creamer and the Sweet-n-low, just in case those items cause you to retain water. I suggest dropping the additives about three days out.
