I think the thing is, Mike, that Obama has done a relatively good job sounding logical to me. As in, even when I don't agree with what he's saying, he does a pretty good job of sounding reasonable, informed, and at least makes good points.

With this assault weapon thing, he's completely ignored the relevant data (which is out there for anyone to look at), and is merely pushing the far-left agenda (and using scare tactics to do it). IE: he's gone into pure politician mode and it's now about how much he can "win" before his term is over. To me, that's just as "obstructionist" as whatever the Tea Baggers are doing.

I've grown up around guns, and was in the military so I've obviously been trained in their use. I also own a few. But I was never really a "gun guy" per se. Meaning I didn't focus on what was going on with legislation all that much, didn't keep up on all the latest news, etc.

But the sheer stupidity of the recent arguments about "assault weapons", the complete cluelessness of people, and the obvious illogical, political approach talked about by Feinstein & Co. get my engineering neck hairs standing up on end. I just can't ignore it, and as a result have had about a 5000% increase in my own discussions with people about it.

I said that I'm beginning to understand what they're talking about. Obamacare is a socialist type program, and goes so far as to require you to have health insurance. Besides, riddle me this, Batman: when has the government EVER been better at running things than the private sector? The post office is billions in debt, but UPS and FedEx seem to do okay.

And you should admit that Obama is out to lunch with this assault weapon ban nonsense. If you can't, then I have to assume you just eat up whatever he is serving with no critical thought of your own.
