A mutual friend, who is a huge hip-hop/rap nerd, was thumbing through my MP3 player yesterday.

After few minutes he asks me, in an accusatory way, why the only rap album I had out of tens of thousands of albums was Straight Outta Compton.

I answer, truthfully, "it's all I've ever needed." He looked taken aback, thought about it, then had this look of "that's what's up."

I think that was the first time in my life I've received a tangible bit of street cred.
