I'm blase about the fact that it has already happened. Can't really do anything about it at this point considering the arrest was in 2009. Also I've come o live with it as I have to claim it on my security clearance investigation every time, as I'd rather not be stripped of my clearance for trying to cover it up.
So.... good job on reading wayyy too far into that.-

Considering that it's possible to be nearly completely sober and still get felony drunk driving charges, I wouldn't really feel comfortable to judge your sentiments on it. While I do agree with mjw's second half of his post (and wish to respect PM's), I've never seen drunk driving as something that people are proud to do; it least on the internet, or where I've lived.

I'm trying to figure out where I mentioned anything about being proud to drunk drive or that I condone it or actively participate in it at this point.
So, again, good job on you all reading wayyyyy too far into it.-

Wasn't talking about you in that regard. I was just talking about mjw's post. I think your personal experiences don't really hold you accountable for who you are, and that it would be more detrimental if you weren't able to express about it openly (no homo).
At the same time, it's hard to talk about alcohol and driving rationally without sounding like you condone it.

Gotcha.
I have accepted my mistake and I'm one to laugh at my mistakes rather than dwell on them; but I don't drink and drive anymore. Fortunately when I got my DUI, only thing to happen was I totaled my car. God forbid if I had hurt somebody.
I urge friends to walk or get cabs when we go out now a days.
Aside:
Kvk, you need to change your sim of preference. Simbin has the BMW with the Judd V8.

I thought yours was in general. I just got defensive after PM's.
Yeah I can say .08 is pretty high. I know one time I was out with friends for dinner. I think I had 5 drinks in 3.5-4 hours while eating. After that they started to go to the bar and I left. They all lived close by, I was 30-45 minutes of driving away from where I had to be and had no desire to to go out to a bar during the week and have to deal with any dui issues. I got pulled for speeding and the cop smelled alcohol on my breath. He had me do the field sobriety test and also gave me a breathalyzer. I blew a .21. I wasn't impaired by any means and he even said there was no sign of me drunk, but he could smell it on my breath (I didn't' have any gum and had cottonmouth). But if it took that many drinks (albeit over a decent time period) to get to .21 it is pretty obvious that for many it would take quite a lot of drinks to hit .08 and there would be no question of impairment.-

If you blow over 0.05 here, you get an automatic 3 day suspension for the first offense, 7 for the next and 30 for a third. You also have to have an ignition interlock device if you get a 3rd "warning". If you blow over 0.08 you get an immediate 90 day, and your car is impounded for up to 7. Most times, if you then get convicted, you lose your license for a year, and when you get it back your insurance company rapes you, and you have to have an ignition interlock (a breathalizer) installed in your car's ignition.

Longest I was up was like 50 something hours. It was during a long partying binge. However many hours I was awake for, I actively drank for all but 6 or 7 of them (I started my day, hit the gym, then got dressed and started drinking). It was a time that my body was literally running on alcohol and caffeine.
For me, the first 24 hour mark is one of the biggest humps to get over. After that, I coast along in a weird trance for awhile. Then at 36 hours I'm pretty good again. Can't really feel the effects of alcohol if I'm drinking, but I know I'm drunk. Beyond that, my body just kept kind of going.-
