I've heard that there is almost no difference in simple and complex carbs for anabolism & creation of muscle.
Is it safe to say that drinking a cup of apple juice can actually help fill my bulk just as much as whole-wheat bread or something more satiating?

If body composition is the question, then yes the consumption of carbohydrates from something that provides more satiety will still suffice providing it fit your caloric/macro/micronutrient goal. Although when comparing the intake of carbohydrates in the form of simple/monosaccarides compared to complex/polysaccharides the latter may help in other areas for some such as sustained energy, increased fiber, BS control ect, yet the outcome on body composition is the same and the preference is yours.

In healthy individuals simple carbs/monosaccharides are always most easily prossesed because they are in fact a single sugar unit thus the process into glucose is simple. If the statement is that they are more suited to post workout for the purposes of body compositon goal than that is highly inaccurate.
