Did that guy used to post on these boards?
Im all for science and evidence. But strict science the way hes talking about it cant be applied to training. Or At least 'following the evidence' i.e. studies and lab results alone isnt going to get you very far. He cant seem to grasp that.

He managed to get 'famous' by calling out the hodgetwins. He said that because they can't back up what they say so they should never give their advice (yeh some broscience info but on the whole good for the average gym goer) . They then destroyed his reputation on youtube and he managed to snag a few of their fans.

Becomes pretty clear at the end if the vid that this kid only does this because A) its something to do and B) he thinks hes some sort of intellectual and wants everyone to know it.

I found the conversation interesting but I think Pulcinella, among his points should have told the skinny guy (who is he btw?) that 6-7 meals a day for pros is a must especially because of steroids and the large amount of food they require. I haven't seen this topic been brought up however to some extent I agree that for naturals and most of the bb's out there, 7 meals a day, 1 every 2 hours is not necessary at all other than being a very intense form of social limitation.

Those DavisForman/JohnBrowne arguments in the old days were fun.
I don't know if this falls into the category but I heard prostate isn't kept healthy if constant pressure is done on it, I heard it is one of issues for many bikers. Not sure if the pressure from heavy military press puts many pressure on prostate, but according to my personal experience, I think it does, if I sit straight on the bench instead of sitting like inclined bench manner (I can feel the pressure around my prostate if I am sitting vertically with heavy military press)

I wondered what happened to that kid. Just out to prove that he has a tiny bit of knowledge. Also, Dave is awesome.
A strictly empirical approach to bodybuilding is incredibly short-sighted because it ignores anecdotal evidence of techniques that work for individuals. Dave summed it up great when he said, "If you follow evidence, you have to allow a little break for some form of educated, intelligent bro science in this sport since bioindividuality is huge."
Game. Set. Match.

ITT: Idiots.
Ian is right. Meal frequency has zero effect on TEF or BMR. If you want to argue otherwise you better come up with other arguments than "well that's not how it works for me". I don't give a **** if you think that the earth rotates around the moon, if you want to claim it does in spite of all the evidence to the contrary you better be able to back it up.
This isn't a case of subjective bodybuilding knowledge and where experience somehow is the trump card. They are discussing a scientific claim which is measurable and quantifiable. Their personal qualifications are completely irrelevant.

I don't think you're getting the point. I agree with Ian and Dave. What Dave was trying to explain halfway through was that whether or not higher meal frequency has an effect on TEF or BMR, which science supports that it does not, there is still some unexplained mechanism by which higher meal frequency may be optimal for certain individuals.
Dave is essentially conceding (to some degree at least) to the fact that there is no effect when it comes to TEF or BMR, but based on empirical evidence through what he has done, he found himself much leaner by using a higher meal frequency protocol. Why is higher meal frequency better for him and not lower frequency? I don't know, neither does he. Point being, the suggestion here is that higher meal frequency may have some other effect on the body that science hasn't explained. And keep in mind, whatever that effect is, can be greater for some people and less for others. You're essentially discrediting any empirical evidence here... See what the science supports, see what empirical evidence shows, and decide for yourself what you'll be pursuing for yourself. The only reason there is science around to discredit or support anything is because it started with theories and ideas (the 1900-1980 version of broscience), and while science has made strides to explain much of the phenomena we've seen with training and nutrition, there's still much more to be explained.

Even though i hate to admit it, sometimes empirical evidence has its place.
And thus i've witnessed **** that shouldn't normally work, but it does.

If you want to make a claim that it is better then you need some sort of theory and evidence. I can point to tons of people who get leaner eating less frequently(myself being one of them). At the moment, there is nothing to support that higher meal frequency has any effect past anecdotal evidence which is easily countered and subject to severe biases.
I'm not saying people can't be successful eating multiple meals a day, but if you want to claim superiority then you need valid evidence. The one thing I've found is consistency and hardwork matters way more than the exact methodologies. Tons of ways to grow/get lean

Forever cutting bro
I liked when they laughed at IFBB pros that have no idea about nutrition and such. Seriously, Phil Heath believes that eating fish makes his skin look better.
Ian is right, eating more frequently has no effect on TEF or BMR, those who still spread that kind of myth shall be ignored, period.
If you hate on Ian, you are nothing but a hater. He spreads the truth about nutrition and supplementation which makes some people very envy.

Meh, I'm not a fan and it isn't because of the information, but his presentation. It doesn't mean I'm envious, it means I prefer a more respectful and amiable presentation of material.

I'm sure he presents some solid information. I'll just have to hear it secondhand because I can only stomach his indefensible condescension for about 3.5 seconds.
