Today is the first day of Keto! This may sound weird, but I still don't count calories while doing keto. The extra fat fills me up a lot and I end up eating at a deficit while eating when I'm hungry and eating until I'm full (it's worked before). Only bad thing is, I think I'm getting really sick. Woke up this morning feeling like crap and it hurt like hell to swallow. Took some advil and Claratin, hopefully drinking a ton of water will help my body fight this off during deload week

Ya, getting all that done in as short a time period as possible isn't fun haha. This next cycle I'll be hitting squats hard, should see some better numbers coming up!
I really like keto. Only problem is I have to give up milk but I've found it to be really effective at torching off fat. Looking to get lean so in the future when I'm finishing off a clean bulk I still barely have abs (or just lost them). Opposed to now where I'm finishing off my bulk with too high of a bf%

lol that's what I shouldve done to get her to work out with me sooner. She says she's going to come with me on Tuesday for deadlifts. We'll see...haha

Ya, I love it. Tried it when I first came to college and gained way too much weight. Lost around 25 pounds in three months effortlessly. Since then whenever I need to cut I use keto

First day of keto went well, and I enjoyed my day of rest. Have three tests in the next two days so I've been studying all day. Tomorrow is start of deload week with bench press. I'll also be walking around campus a lot and have my sport conditioning class so glycogen stores will definitely take a hit tomorrow. Headed off to bed soon because I still feel horrible. Hopefully I'm better by the time my next cycle of 5/3/1 starts

Awesome, interested in seeing how ya like it. I've loved my run, going to keep at it for awhile. Considering switching to the Bodyweight template in the future since I've heard its more athletic and conditioning oriented and stuff. Sticking with Boring But Big for a few more cycles though.

    Effects of Volatile Update

Before I forget, today in my conditioning class we started out with 10 minutes of LISS. When we were finished and waiting around for a second I noticed a huge pump in my calves--and I hadn't taken Volatile yet today. Like, the pump was almost uncomfortable. I felt it then looked down and was like "oh..wow, didn't expect that" haha. I guess at this point it's just built up in my system and I get pumps really easily now? I always get a decent pump from my jump rope sets but this 10 minutes of LISS gave a great pump in my calves.
    Kinda weird, but not complaining.

Over the summer I hate taking time off from the gym. Over the school year though I can just study and enjoy the extra time to myself a little more. My deload workout was sooo short since the weight was so light haha.
And ya, I get wanting to look into other templates. Triumverate is another good one if you want to limit the damage done to your body per workout haha

So today was a deload bench day. Went well..felt like a wimp though haha. Also went to the gym that's way more convenient to go to, the one with only a smith machine for a barbell.
Also, story time: There's one smith machine in the entire gym, but plenty of dumbbells and benches so you can use dumbbells where ever you want. Two guys had the smith bar all the way up and was using that area to use dumbbells. How much more inconsiderate can you get?? I just glared at them across the gym for a bit and when they kept going I walked up, here's the convo:
    Me: Hey...
Scrawny Douche Bags: Ya, we're almost done. *waves hand dismissingly*
Me: You know there's other benches in the gym, right?
Scrawny Douche Bags: This one is the most comfortable
Me: ...Are you being serious? If you want to bring your purse in the gym with you that's fine. Least you can do is move the bench out of the rack so other people can use it
Scrawny Douche Bags: Well, just finished so it's all yours

I couldn't believe it. Doing DB Rows by stabalizing yourself on the db rack is one thing, in between sets you move. This....this was new

    Anyway...

    Bench Day, Deload Week

    Warm Up
    Rotator Cuff exercises
BW Chins X 20 (over two sets)

    Workout

    Smith Machine Bench
    105 X 5
    105 X 5
    105 X 5

    Superset1: Smith Machine Bench BBB
    80 X 10
    80 X 10
    80 X 10
    80 X 10
    80 X 10

    Superset1: Back Work
    BW Chins X 10
    BW Chins X 10
    Machine Row 50 X 10
    Machine Row 50 X 10
    Machine Row 50 X 10

    Standing DB OHP
    25s X 5
    25s X 5
    25s X 5

    Superset2: Curls
    One Arm DB 10 X 10
    One Arm DB 10 X 10
    Hammer 15 X 10

    Superset2: Lateral Raise
    10 X 10
    10 X 10
    10 X 10

    Conditioning
    10 minutes of LISS
10-15 minutes of Jump Rope (randomly switching to just one foot, double foot, AMRAP for 20 second bursts, etc. I was sweating by the end of this)
Parachute Sprints down a basketball court 6 times
    Sprints

Not sure on exact numbers here because it was this morning, but it was tough. I was sweating buckets. That's something I've noticed while taking Volatile, maybe it's just me but I've been sweating a TON more in the gym and with cardio

Do you enjoy sweating more on Volatile? Must mean youre working harder than usual, thats how I take it.

Funny story about the dirtbags on the smith. I woulda told em off too!
The 2 most important things to me when training are 1. The Muscle Mind Connection. and 2. Intensity

I don't know how I feel about it haha. I mean, it's drastically more than usual. Me and the gf had some...pseudo-conditioning (nice way to put it)...before the gym today and I was sweating bullets where before I wouldn't have sweat at all.
Guess it's good during a cut though, and it really doesn't affect the workout that much at all so I'll take it

So today the gf said she was going with me to the gym. Much to my surprise, she did! Although she did not like working on form very much haha. Put her under the bar for squats and she couldn't support just the bar (she's very skinny so makes since, don't know why I didn't consider this beforehand). So she's going to do a lot of bodyweight exercises as a workout until she gets a little stronger haha.
Anyway, I didn't do the full deadlift workout. I know deads are taxing on the CNS, and the last several workouts I've fought for PRs so want to make sure I'm recovering and not overdoing it during the deload.

Oh, for this deload week I've been doing 1 scoop opposed to 1.5 because 1.) 1 scoop is plenty for a deload, might actually lower it to space out the bottle more and 2.) hot drinks really feel good on my throat (still feel super ****ty, came just in time for my first 3 tests too) and the only thing I can drink on keto is coffee (with just minimal cream). So I don't want to overdo it on the caffeine.

Anyways, it's a deload week and I didn't really keep strict recordings of the weights I did today so here's a general outline:

    Deadlift Day, Deload Week

    Warm Up
    BW Chins X 20 (over 2 sets)

    The Work Out

    Squats
    115 X 5
    115 X 5
    115 X 5
nice and easy. Did squats first cause the deadlift area was taken by guys who had 10 sets left (?)

    Deadlift
    135 X 5
    135 X 5
    155 X 5
again, nice and light. Felt weird to not be going all out haha

    Deadlift - BBB
    nope

    Conditioning
    Speed Walk - 3.6 miles
    B: 320
    S: 435
    D: 510
    OHP (Strict): 210

Last day of deload! Felt like I really didn't need this as a deload day so I pushed it a bit on small muscle groups (calves and abs). Nothing too bad. Definitely ready for some heavy benching on monday!

    120 X 10
    120 X 10
    120 X 10
    120 X 10
    120 X 10

    One Legged BW Calf Raises
    X 20
    X 15
    X 15
(I do these on stairs so I can go beyond parallel and I do them slow. Hurts haha)

    Misc Back Work
    SLDL 120 X 5
    SLDL 120 X 5
    DB Row 50 X 15

    Volatile Update

Still going strong. Even if I REALLY don't want to go to they gym, I drink volatile and start doing my jump ropes and I'm in the zone. Pumps are also great during the workout. Also think after more than half the tub muscles are saturated with the agmatine (only thing I can think of) because it's REALLY easy for me to get pumps. I was typing a paper last night and was getting a forearm pump haha.

    A mixability/taste guide for what I've done:

Deload -- 1 scoop in about 5-6 oz of water.
    Mixability (10/10) -- no problems
Taste (9/10) -- great tasting. Not too strong, easily chuggable.
Misc -- Not too much water, so you don't feel full on the way to the gym. (Tried chugging the recommended 8 oz per scoop and I felt sick. 4-6 oz works way better)

Regular Workouts -- 1.5-1.75 scoops in 7-8 oz of water.
Mixability (4/10) -- in it's defense, it recommends 8 per 1 scoop. So this is what I expected. And I can deal with this, just a few chunks floating around.
Taste (7.5/10) -- a little strong (obviously) but not bad by any means. If you forget what 1 scoop in 5-6 oz of water tastes like, the rating goes up to 8.5/10 haha
Misc -- I do this because if I were to do what was recommended, I'd have a 14 oz preworkout. Too much water for me, I'd feel way too full / sick. I can deal with chunks in the drink and the stronger taste (it really does still taste good) for less water.

Nice little review. Im Glad you are still going strong on it.

Nice Deload sessions. For people who do 10+ sets its most likely due to them doing tons of singles or doubles. were they big dudes?

they were big..but not huge. But ya, now that you mention it I think they were doing doubles -- maybe triples

Felt like doing something healthy today rather than sitting in my room doing homework all day so I went and did some hill sprints:

    Conditioning
    Hill Sprints X 17
Pretty big size hill, was only going for 15 but felt good so got out two more.

Been good on my first week of keto, no cheating. About to head to a bar with friends though, planning on a whiskey and coke or something. Popped some glycobol to minimize the effects of the carbs, and with the conditioning I just did with my sports conditioning class tomorrow, I should be good. Will check in tomorrow with my bench workout! (excited)

Felt good going close to max effort today. Was weak on my bench for some reason, might still be adjusting to the no carbs (which I thought wouldn't be a problem, I took 25 g of fast digesting carbs a half hour before my workout *shrug*) Anyways, got insane pumps today, felt good.

    Bench Day

    Warm Up
    Jump Rope X 400
BW Chins X 40 (two sets with a few seconds of rest after 10)

    The Workout

    Flat BB Bench
    140 X 7
    155 X 5
    155 X 5
    155 X 5
175 X 2 -- very weak here, almost didn't get the second rep. Just shrugged it off
    170 X 1

    Flat BB Bench - BBB
    105 X 10
    105 X 10
    105 X 10
    110 X 10
110 X 10 -- last set was excruciating. Felt like it took forever, never racked the weight though

    Standing BB OHP
    55 X 5
    75 X 5
    85 X 5
Last set took a little out of me, I'll probably do three sets of 85-90 on thursday. Felt really good doing these though. In my gym, these are like deadlifts--hardly anyone does them but if people do it's with very little weight because they're scared of hurting themselves. I was already doing more than other people doing OHP, and I plan on progressing quickly

Giant Set: Standing DB Curls (light)
    20 X 10
    20 X 10
    17.5 X 10

    Giant Set: Lateral Raise
    20 X 10
    20 X 10
    17.5 X 10

    Giant Set: French Press
    40 X 10
    35 X 10
    30 X 10

Throughout the entire workout I was doing chins (wide grip). I did a lot supersetted with my BBB sets and standing OHP. Kept track of my total but forgot where exactly they were placed. I know I finished the workout with 2 sets of 10 (painful).
Total Number of Chins Today = 150 Rep PR. Don't know if I should shoot for 200 per workout or shoot for 100-150 in the fewest number of sets. I'll figure it out.

    Conditioning
    Thousand Rep Challenge.
In a half hour I got 800 of them out. Did 100 reps of the following (in sets of 25):
    Pushups
Rear Delt Flyes (with a band)
    Jumping Jacks
    BW Squats
    BW Lunges
    BW Standing Calf Raises
DB Curls (with 10 pounds. Didn't really wanna strain myself)
    BW Tricep Dips

Just wanted to check in on you. I've been busy getting my log set up. Formutech hooked me up with some Perform. Looks like you're still going strong. I still shake my head every time I see all those damn pull-ups you do! Lol. Just kidding. Keep killing it!
