Some advice for an intermediate lifter trying to get back into things

So to make a long story short, I was a pretty active lifting back in high school when I was training for football, I took things pretty seriously. My best lifts at 17yo were deadlift of 465x5, squat of 375x5 and a bench of 275x1 (I never really tested my 1RM much back then). Anyways, I ended up getting pretty badly hurt my senior year which marked the end of my football career and lifting for a while. Then college came and I slacked of lifting a lot, to the point I might have went once a week last semester.

Anyways, right now my main goal is to drop about 10 pounds from 180 to 170, while also increasing my strength as much as possible in preperation for a club football team im joining this spring.

Ive been out of the game for a couple years so im not as up to date on this stuff as I should be.
So my question to you guys, what routine would you recommend to go about this? Ive had success in the past with Bill Stars 5x5 and 5/3/1 as well as some modified rippetoe's routines.

Current lifts are somewhere in the range of 275x5 for squat, 195x5 for bench, and unknown deadlift (nagging back injury kept me away from these for a while, just starting back up again)

    Thanks for your help

    -----Best lifts-----
    Squat: 395x1
    Bench: 275x1
    Deadlift: 430x6

If you've had success with linear progression, why change to something else? Just do SS or 5x5. It'll be hard to do that at a caloric deficit though, as linear progression programs tend to be fairly demanding.

Yea, im aiming for approx a 500 cal deficit, which is why I didnt want to go straight back into a linear progression scheme. When I was running those in high school I was eating 500+ excess cal per day and gaining a pound a week.

Im certainly open to trying them if theres no better option, however.

You could look into Carb backloading. Tons of people here have lost weight (fat) on it and gotten stronger in the process, including myself. There's a huge thread on it somewhere, and if you're interested enough you can get the book
