good job on the 9.5 miles......
as far as your blister problem goes, what socks are you wearing? for me it seems like socks play the biggest role in creating blisters. one way I have avoided blisters in the past is put a piece of kt tape over places I knew I would get a blister.

I run 4x/week
Depending on the training, I either do 3x4 or 4x4
(3 miles, 4 days a week or 4 miles, 4 days a week)
Week 1 - Intensive (3x4)
Week 2 - Slow (4x4)
Week 3 - Intensive (3x4)
Week 4 - Slow (4x4)
Week 1 - I do an "interval" running program. On a treadmill I'll run at about a 7 for my slow pace (which is 8:34 min/mile), while raising the speed up to a 7.5 (8 min/mile) sprinkled through out. I start with a 2x2 interval, 2 minutes of 7 pace running, 2 minutes of 7.5 pace. It seems strange but since it switches so quickly, I want to kinda subconsciously run through it as though it was all one quick pace. Gotta keep it fun. 3 miles each day this week.
Each day I increase the length of the 7.5 pace interval a little longer.
Week 2 - Slow week for me, I'll run at a comfortable pace for 4 consistent miles. If I'm working on moving to a 8 min. mile then I'll just coast at 8.5 min/mile this week. Letting myself rest a little bit, work on my endurance this week.
Week 3 - Intensive week. I go for it. 3 miles at an 8 min pace. No stopping, just running. Probably my favorite week out of the month.
Week 4 - Slow week. I'll run 3 miles at an 8 min pace with 1 mile at a comfortable slow pace. Trying to build up my endurance here again.
I've been having good luck with this plan. I've been able to increase my pace from 10 mins/mile to 8 mins. However decreasing my time even further is taking me longer now. Trying to run 7&1/2 min. miles consistently is tough lol.
I run both on treadmill and track. I only run 4 miles because right now I'm just focusing on 5ks. In a few months, once I get my pacing down really well, I'll work on my endurance for a 10k.Last edited by LtGoose; 10-28-2016 at 01:51 PM.

You will never know your limits, unless you push yourself past the imaginary lines you have drawn in the sand.

Ran the marine corps Marathon yesterday... That's a tough race IMO my worst time ever.... Almost ashamed of it... 5hrs. The heat destroyed me at about mile 20... Just said screw it and walked not worth leaving on a stretcher lol.. I wanted to finish on my own power. It's hard being a guy and knowing your limits and when it's not conducive to push.. if that makes sense....

Just did my first 15K yesterday for the HotChocolate Run in Chicago. My co-worker literally came over to me 4 days ago and was like "You wanna run a 15K this weekend?"....well without training for it (I run 3 miles daily and play soccer 3 days a week though), I ran it in an hour and 24 min....my legs are sore AF today though.
Not sure how you bros can do an entire marathon...props to youChicago Crew
Next time you're tempted to say you "can't," remember that what you're really saying is, "I don't want to."

i think i just got in at the wrong time coral... the mob was so thick at the start that i couldnt even get to the 4hr pacer group. so i just got stuck where i could , sitting back that was probably 90% of my problem, to many wlkers and at that area, most people dont know their real time, and dont grasp the runners courtosy like just running strait or not looking where they run....made me think of that scene in family guy with the asian female driver.... how much notice i need to give to cut across 8 lanes of traffic, no none good luck evabody lol
my overall experience, well not the best i guess. i went in as this race wasthe first marathon i wanted to do and have wanted to do it for 3+ years now, seriously got me in to running, sadly i think its a one and done type thing. ive done prob 12 marathins now and only ones i ever would do again is probably the LA ( my serious favorite one hands down) & napa valley marathons. maybe disney world marathon as heck its disney (huge disney fanboy lol)
sorry typing on a mini tablet keyboard atm hope that made sense.Runner Crew (48.6 miles Dopey Challenge -- Completed)

This is the same issue I had with the San Diego marathon...if I'd known that 80% of the people had no idea what time they would do (or would jump ahead into higher corrals so they didnt need to wait), I would have made sure I was higher up.
I signed up for a 21km train running race in Feb...did a test run of it the other weekend and made it before the cutoff time, my legs were toast though so need to get a lot of training in the hills around the area to condition myself*Cluster Headache Crew* If you also suffer and need help/advice on it, PM me

Time to get back into the swing of it boyos. Signed up for a 25k trail race. I've run it before and it's brutal but the course is beautiful. It's in February so the weather is very hit or miss. I'll train for everything I guess.
