10k is my preferred distance and my best time from late last year was 37 minutes.
I have around 300 miles logged in these...time for new sneakers soon:

Started running back in November. Try to cut some weight. What shows would you guys recommend? Currently using some older Nike Lunarglides.

    Sorry Babe no cardio.

I have not ran in a month due to surgery.

Edit- I wish all my shoes had counters on them. When I first lost weight I was running at least two times (somedays had hockey as well) a day, everyday, 7 days a week. Probably have a pair with over 1k miles.

Doesn't that chit cut off your circulation? What about skin chafing?

Also, for bros like me that don't like to have anything (except for keys) on them when running, get something like this: http://www.roadid.com/p/the-Wrist-ID-Slim with a contact name on it in case you get hit by a car or some chit. Stay safe.

I wear it over a long sleeve under armour so it doesn't irritate my skin, and it's tight at first but loosens up during the run.

    Also brahs,

do yourself a favor and get spibelt. Its like a fanny pack, but not as gay and super small. It fits my ID(even though I have a road ID, i still bring this) Iphone(for emergencies), my inhaler, and some energy gels with no problem. Its small enough that I literally dont even notice it. It's perfect for my long runs outside.

Do brahs here run after their gym/weight workout or before? Do you guys run on the same day as a day you squat for example? I play soccer so I need to do a lot of running but with gym/work/uni/soccer training I'm finding it hard not to get burnt out/fit in some running.

Highly recommend the Endomondo app as it tracks you with GPS and will record the following:

Cooper - 12 minute [ how fast you can cover in 12 minutes ]
    1km time

    5km time

It will take into consideration all your workouts and find out your best time.

Then it has the overall summary section which notes all workouts, durations, distance, how many trips around the world, trips to the moon, average speed, average pace and how many calories you burned plus how many burgers you've burnt.

You can also plot your route on their website with the aid of Google maps and find runners near you who've been running.

Sounds pretty neat. Been using Nike+ though. Should I switch?

Find the right shoes. This is critical. Also hire a running coach for a day or two to just show you proper running form( for example landing with a flat arch instead of heel to toe).

I've never used Nike+ but if it does the same as this then no need to switch it up. I've tried for ages to find a decent breakdown of a workout like this for example:

plus it also tracks your pace over your whole run to mile ratio, check it out.

    Running:
-Try to keep your back straight
    -Head up/looking forward
    -Hands at waist level
    -Land midfoot
-Relaxed hands/shoulders to avoid side stitches

    Sprinting:
-All about track work. A good beginner routine would be to Sprint 50 meters, walk 50 meters and repeat

    Avoiding Shin Splints:
-Get sneakers that support your weight(i.e: if you're overweight, don't get barefoot style sneakers)
    -Land midfoot
    -Shorter, more frequent strides
-DO NOT heel strike or land on the outsides of your feet. This is the most important tip.

lax brah that trains hard and sometimes beyond my limits.

That feel when you can breath in deeply and feel the raw power of your lungs.

That feel when you reached the point where your legs are screaming, but you are no where close to being out of breath running a 5:30 min mile pace.
