For people worried about the sodium content, I would recommend just slow cooking the chicken in enough chicken broth to cover, and after you shred the stuff to use whatever sauce you're going to use on each serving before you eat it.
It is NOT exactly the same as slow cooking it in hot sauce, but it is a good second-best for people worried about consuming an entire bottle of buffalo sauce every 3-4 days.

When I make this, I cook the chicken with the hot sauce on low for like 6 hours. I then shred, empty some of the juice, then add black beans, sauteed veggies, rotell, and rice. Let it cook on low for another 2 hours or so. Good to go after that. I've also cooked the rice in bag thing. For that, if the bag rice calls for 10 minutes of cooking, I'd cook for 1/2 the time, then put in for an hour with the chicken and everything else. So good.

and here's how it looked when it was done:
i don't believe in being negative, so i won't make a comment on how it tasted.
went back to the tried and true frank's buffalo for a few rounds in the interim to build up some bravado before trying some new ones. here's what's on the docket:

hmmm. i guess i'd describe its taste like a particular orifice located on the southside of a northbound mule... after it'd ingested month-old chili that'd been left out in the dry desert heat.
i'm not a fan of creams (sour cream, cream cheese, other commonly used bases or finishers of that variety), but i think i recall someone else itt whipping up something similar that seemed to turn out really well.
as for limey/acidic taste, i haven't ever gone wrong with some teriyaki, lime juice, tequila, garlic, a dash of liquid smoke, and ginger. i would recommend the mojo from a few pages back, but i couldn't find any when i lived out near you. brb care packages from mom to stock me up with the stuff <3 if you ever want me to send you some, just lmk... its acidic taste isn't quite lime, but it certainly does have a bit of citrus flair to it.Last edited by justme7; 03-21-2013 at 03:52 PM. I found this thread on the misc. Asked the GF to make this for me.
So being the culinary genious she is, she made this and on top of the slow-cooked franks red hot chicken she added a ranch dressing/green onion/celery mix and FUUUAAAARRRRKKK!!
Had them with whole wheat buns. Must have been the best meal i've eaten in weeks. Deadly srs.

Made low fat cream cheese chicken last night. It was alright, a bit too salty for me even though I used less seasoning as the original recipe calls for. I'll put what I used if someone wants to try it out though.
3 large chicken breasts
1 can of low sodium cream of chicken soup
2 cloves of garlic (optional)
Half a packet of Italian seasoning
Half a block of fat free cream cheese (to use after chicken is cooked)
Cook chicken with everything but the cream cheese on low for 5 hours. Add the cream cheese when the chicken is cooked and set on high for 30mins or until cheese is melted. Use a fork to break the chicken into big pieces or leave as is. 8 hours seem excessive, my chicken came out very tender and juicy after 5.Competition Wilks: 406

I bought ranch dip mix instead of ranch dressing mix. Has anyone used dip mix and had it come out ok? I think it's more salty than the dressing mix.
