How to improve my performance for basketball

    I have two questions.

I am currently doing Leangains and am eating a +20/-20 split. That means on work out days I'm eating 20% over my daily caloric needs, and -20 on my "rest" days. I'm doing starting strength, and am adding some plyometrics to the end of my lifts.

Should I continue eating like this to increase my lifts?

Secondly, what are some solid basketball specific drills I can add to help improve my athleticism for basketball? I have a lot of problems cutting to the basket and blowing by my opponent. I already practice shooting and dribbling, but I am having trouble reacting ot my opponent. I also don't have great straight-line speed or cutting speed. What are some drills I can do to improve my speed/athleticism?

I don't think you really need basketball specific drils to get faster... just improving raw athleticism will help a lot.

Please don't do SS. It' s just not effective for athletes.
