How much should you be able to lift based on weight ?
In order to determine whether or not you are at least some what strong does anybody know what some decent numbers would be for the following exercises:
Squat
Deadlift
Bench
Incline
Barbell Curl
Military
Row
for example if you squat 2x ur bodyweight is that considered good ? or how much should you be able to bench at 200 pounds to have some decent numbers...and for non-steroid users btw...if any one can help i would really appreciate the insight.
That's a good question. I know if you can bench press double your bodyweight that is considered quite strong. I'm almost there Even 100lbs over your bodyweight on the bench I've been told is impressive. There must be some other sites that have that info. I would curious as well.
I found a site though that had some records for bench press by bodyweight, classs, age if it was a masters class, and what they lifted.

i weigh 140 and put up 240, i have some of those records beat, they still cant b to date. it just all depends on how much you weigh to determine how much u put up. what a-rod wrote looks about right, but it really doesnt matter. there will always b some1 bigger and stronger.
It doesnt matter how big, how cut, or how much you can lift, because there will always be someone bigger, more cut, or stronger than you. You should train to be the best you genetically can be. This is what should motivate you everyday.
Wow, I'm a stronger old fart than I expected. LOL. I'm almost at the squat, bench and incline numbers. No where near the curl and I can only do my BW in the row. Worst exercise for me.
Overall I guess I'm on the right track. One of my goals is to 2x BW in bench and squats. A few more weeks if all goes well. Of course if I do gain any weight than it's always just a litte out of reach. That kind of sucks. It's like dangling the carrot in front of the horse.

It really doesn't. What matters is that the weight is heavy to you and you're making gains off of it. What good is lifting heavy weight if you don't even look like you workout. It's a nice personal feeling to be able to do it and know you're stronger than most people in your weight class/age group, but it really means nothing in the scope of things. IMO.

Some of these are estimates, but should be pretty close. My lower back is my weak link, which is why my squat, dead and BB rows are low compared to my bench. Not sure if 135 is good on military press. I suspect that's low as well. I might be able to do more sitting, but I always do military press standing so I don't know. My lats, bi's and tri's are pretty strong (which is why my chin and dip numbers are high), oh and it helps that I only weight 145 pounds.

Agree completely.
But I think being strong is almost as important, and IMO it is a better goal than being huge. Strength is practical and useful, size isn't really (unless you make money as a body builder).
Besides, who looks better? A 200 pound dude with 15% bf or a 165 pound guy at 4% bf cut to shreads? I'd prefer to be the second guy personally.
For the past three months, I've been training with a focus on strength, and it has really improved my lifts and chin-up performance. My numbers are much lower than the rest of yours, but I can't exactly produce mass quantities of testosterone like you men do, so give me a break, umkay?
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 155 pounds
Bench: 105
Squat (narrow stance, below parallel): 135
Deadlift: 175

I'm a puss and can't lift too much. Haven't maxed on bench but I would say about 175-190. Around that anyway.
I've been thinking about this alot lately.
What REALLY matters? Weight you can lift, how BIG YOU are, or how good you look?
For me it is how I look. I might not be able to lift much weight, but I think I look good and my woman thinks I look hot. That is what matters to me.
yeah, teen bodybuilders always bitch with their maxes, if i would be able to get huge and big using 5 pounds i would use 5 pounds, the weight u use aint relevant in bodybuilding it's the size you gain from it, if you gonna do bodybuilding do it with heart and soul and don't be intimidated by anyone lifting more then you

you must be sure to pause is for a split second on your chest (in some federations it's 2 seconds) so try for to to make sure, shoulder wide grip not wide grip
There is a website and a publication of what someone SHOULD lift for each lift... I once found it in a MuscleMag publication but I lost the issue... If anyone knows of it could you please post it?
