My only issue however, is having to quit again....
I tried the patch and the lozenges for cutting, but I couldn't tolerate them. Even tiny amounts made me feel sick. I've read from lots of other people who use nicotine as a fat burner.

I've also read that slow release nicotine (like the patch) isn't as addictive as smoking because you don't get that instant hit. I'd guess an e cig might be comparable to real cigarettes in terms of how hard it is to quit.

Currently trying to quit smoking for the 500th time (halfway thru week three) so I'd have to say smoking is tougher than losing 20 lbs. Then again, I might not be the best person to ask as I've never had a problem with weight. There was a stretch in my last 20s/early 30s where I didn't work out at all (like several years), ate like crap, drank, smoked and never became obese. Got weak and soft but not fat. I've been blessed with good genetics although as I age they don't seem to help as much.

Quitting smoking on the other hand has been brutal. Luckily this time my gf is also quitting. It makes a big big difference when your SO is quitting with you. No cigs are in the house so it's tougher to cheat.

As a person that has done both, I think losing the weight was harder. I know this is subjective as the length of time a person smokes has an affect on their ability to quit. In my opinion, losing the weight is more difficult. My reasoning? We have to eat to live and I believe the majority of people truly have little knowledge of the items to eat and type of training needed to drop 20 lbs. so for me, the smoking was simply throwing the pack out and moving on.

A lot of good conversation in here. Good thread OP.

Was smoking more than 40 cigs a day and for 45 years.
I thought I lacked willpower. Quit cold turkey one day. It's 3 years now.
I feel I have great determination.

    Food can be an addiction.

How successful would you expect an addict to be if they had to have a little of their substance of choice in order to live?
I haven't had to kick a substance abuse habit (other than food and laziness). I can't say if one is harder than the other. The quote above is from a morbidly obese guy on one of those documentary reality shows. I thought he had a point.

What saved me is the fact that I'm a stubborn f**k.

    Quitting smoking!

Took me only 3 months to dump almost 50lbs once

Took almost 10 years to quit smoking.

Ironically the weight I had to dump was because I took up eating after I quit smoking.

Congrats to all you quitters and losers .

    Never smoked.

Therefore, everything in life, is harder for me, than quitting smoking.

    Tough life eh?
