And waited for him by the Celtics team bus to "talk" it out.
So whats your take on this? I say if you are playing any kind of sports, trash talking is all good, but taking that sh!t to a personal level??? Those are fighting words.

My daddy can beat your daddy up!
But seriously, they were going back and fourth trash talking and then Garnette brought in Carmelos wife, that sh!t went all over the internet with the quickness. I heard Carmelo called him on the phone and they spoke for like 2 hours and squashed it, but Carmelo was telling him that was low blow and that family should not be brought up He said you can trash talk all you want about my game but leave my wife out of it.On the list for Bannukah

Eh, I don't know really... I guess it depends on what's deemed acceptable w/in the confines of the sport/activity etc.
Take these Comedy Central Roasts for example... it's pretty much anything goes and that is understood by all. Then there's rap battles... it's generally accepted that you can go most anywhere except for race (though it may have been different in your times). And then among certain groups of friends we had our own boundaries when it came to making fun of each other. With my close friends, we could go so far as make fun of each other's races and even girlfriends (as long as they were not present) but never moms or dads.Sept of Baelor was an inside job. Wildfire can't melt stone masonry.

I don't know what the 'rules' are these days. I suppose I'd leave family out of it if I was doing the talking. Of course, not the trash talking type - that said...I think one has to expect trash talk to escalate when bringing in the family.
KG is known for this kind of stuff. I don't know why people let it bother them - Maybe Melo was concerned he actually did go down on his wife. Reports are that they are separated.
I think a worse KG moment is wishing <forget player name> a happy mothers day, knowing said players mom just passed away. That one to me is pretty bad.
I gotta think as a pro athlete, there shouldn't be much that would bother you, but yeah....wives, kids, and dead mom cracks are probably gonna get you a little hot.

Also, wanted to add that it's a bit different in the Pros. A lot of these guys end up training together, playing in chairty events, attending the same events, etc....So, an amount of respect should be provided to one another.
It's not quite like H.S. ball where you didn't cross paths with one another except on the field.

The story I heard is that Mello and his wife have been on the outs as there are rumors of her cheating, which is supposedly why Mello snapped and is also why Garnett hammered him with it.
At the end of the day, these are grown ass men, playing a kids game, for big money. They will do whatever they feel they need to in order to keep the $$ rolling in.You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.
