    single arm db shoulder press

    Is it better to do elbows in or elbows out? What i mean is, on a db shoulder press, the elbows are pointed towards east and west. When i do single arm db shoulder press, i like to point the elbows more forward because it gives me more ROM and feels more natural. Is that okay?

    BTW, how do you do single arm DB bench press without sliding off the bench or feeling like you're about to slide off the heavy side?

    You have these things called legs, they can do stuff... like stabalize you.

    Nah, but still it doesn't do too much stabilizing, so what I do is use 2 DB's and alternate to get the effect of single arm.

    regarding the 1st part of my question, this is what i mean:

    elbows in (ignore whatever this dude's teaching):

    If I do DB I do it like the first vid...Barbell more like the second vid. + I am lazy and do not like to count twice so I do both at the same time with the DB's

    I would think the point of single side training would not be to use a counter weight, but engage core and try to keep stable. Like a waiter's carry.

    I see, that makes sense. And i will continue to do elbows in for single arm shoulder press... gets a lot more ROM that way.

    You can eliminate any balance issues by standing up like a man when you do dumbbell presses.

    Are you doing this for strongman?

    If so, point your elbow whichever way allows you to move the most weight. That's all that really matters
