Also, I heard a lot of **** about protein shakes are useless etc. So help me out! I want the most effective method be it pills or mass gainer shakes.

All you need to gain weight at 16 is a lot of food and consistency of lifting.
Train hard and often, eat a lot of calories, and you'll gain weight. Go four weeks eating more -- if your weight doesn't change, add in more food. Keep lifting.
Consider joining a sports team at your high school. This will increase your athleticism and definitely increase your appetite. At a young age, this athleticism and a good coach in lifting will help your life time weight gain goals more than anything.

****totypes are inaccurate generalizations of different body types.
However its far from the truth claiming that there are no such things as "ectomorphs" because the metabolism, macronutrient response, etc is different in every single individual. Even in a controlled environment with identical training/nutrition, two individuals could have a huge gap in muscle gain/fat loss due to their genetic deposition.
I agree in fitness community though, the people crying ecto/endo etc are only complaining because they're eating too much/too little and know nothing about nutrition.
2 gainers I've tried in the past were Mass fusion by isobolic and Weight gainer 1400 by TSN, both quality products and I can vouch for the taste as well. You can grab some TSN gainer right here at bb.com:
