Post Work Out Pump... then flabby again?

I've started lifting weights around early August so maybe I'm being a little to impatient but I thought I would ask. I was pretty chubby last year weighting in the high 190's lbs with little to no muscle. I've changed my entire diet and stated a new life style change. Now I'm in the mid 160's and I can fit into a size 32 in wist pair of pants and still have a little extra room.

But I'm still flabby. Even in my chest which is the worst. It seems that after my work outs I get the post work out pump and my body is pretty noned at the moment (My chest especially since I hate having a flappy chest). Then 20 minutes later when the pump goes away I go back to the flabby state. Its really frustrating since it looks like I don't even work out at all. Is this normal? I'm lifting heavy (by my standards) now to try to build muslce, so pretty much the heaviest wight I can do 6 times with good form.

Why do I have a pumped look after the gym and then go right back to a flabby chest? Does it just take a lot longer to tone up? Is my body not letting me lose any more fat? I'm pretty thin as it is now. Any advice?

The post-workout pump always goes away. Some supplements (like NO2) claim to provide a perpetual pump, but don't count on it. I'm assuming you need to build more muscle mass before your going to achieve the look you want. Pics?

Sure I'll post some pics when I get home. I'm not fat but I still have aflabby stomache and falbby chest. But when I finish working out my chest is super toned. Then it goes back to lose and flabby. Hopefully I just need to build more muscle. It seems really really slow for me. I'm not a long stronger now then when I stated but I will keep at it.

LOL You must be a living legend on this site. Every thread I have ever read I have seen you post in. And its usually a smart ass remark also lol.

The thing is I go from toned to flabby which really sucks. Being flabby is horrible. I'm not trying to get jacked just more toned. Then I will worry about getting bigger.

I say you should switch it up and try doing 10-12 reps with a weight amount that will make your muscles fail in that rep range. Do 3 to 4 sets per exercise and try for about 4 exercises per body part. The problem is you're probably not taking your muscles to failure.

this is ridiculous. Lift with more volume/frequency/weight. Eat in a SLIGHT surplus.

If Muscle groups are lagging, odds are (in my experience) its due to one of the 4 things I listed above.

What does eating in a slight surplus mean?

Add more muscle. Also, that "full" feeling for 1-2 days is related to glycogen stores. If you are not eating enough, that feeling goes away. More importantly, if you are not eating enough, you are not growing.

Forget eating a surplus of calories and gaining weight. If your main complaint is that you look flabby, then you need to lose weight. Focus on cardio and proper nutrition.

This ^^ If you want to lose the flabbyness, you need to lose more fat/weight and lean out. Eat below your maintenance calorie level..Read the stickys in the nutrition forum. Tons of great info in there.
