Yes, but you have to be careful deadlifting with a messy sammich--you get mustard all over the bar and you can be in trouble with grip.

The pic actually fits into the original (WTF?) premise of this thread.
I had taken a lot of progress/posing practice pics, and my wife wanted to see one in a more "natural" pose. I got rewarded nicely for that photo.

1) In that pic I am 194-195 (my mid-day weight). First thing am after peeing I am usually 189-190. On my diet, I run fairly carb depleted. A good carb up will put my morning weight to 195-6 and my mid day weight at 199. (found that out at Christmas
2) Yes...I lose strength on all my cuts. I have found it is usually a temporary thing as carbs really give me the fuel I need for performance. My bench suffers the worst. Down about 10-12% (40-50lbs). My deads are off about 30 lbs but that is only 5% or so of my deads. I have found this happens on all my cuts. Usually about 90-95 % of the strength comes back within 2 weeks of upping the cals...and it is not long before I am trying to push for new PR's.
3) No set point. I am about done cutting. I just wanted to get to a point where I could finally strip some midsection fat. Since it is the last to go, it meant I had to do quite an intensive cut. My legs and arms are about at contest level...(with thigh skinfold under 4mm without water manipulation). All in all, I just was sick of having decent development and looking more 'blocky' then sculpted. My wife started calling be 'boulder' when I was up at 210 after 5 months of surplus. I still had 'abs', but not good ones and I really needed to drop about 10 or more. I think it has been successful and I am ready to crank it up again!
I think this is week 12 of my diet. I intentionally slowed it down about a month ago as I felt I was losing too fast. I am at the point of leaning out VERY slowly now. 2 or 3 more weeks max...then it is time to ramp up!

I'm rather an ordinary middle aged looking guy who works at an office job, requiring me to wear a suit and tie. During the summer, on Fridays, we can dress down, but still requires a collar.
After work, I hit the gym so I change into my workout clothing, after which, I head home, then I take the dog for a walk in the local park.
Now, here's the deal, when I have my suit on, I look average...the only thing one could tell about my body is that I don't have a gut. At work, I pretty much don't get a second look if a pretty girl walks by. Now, that totally changes when I'm walking the dog in my shorts and T shirt. I consider myself to be fairly cut, so in my gym outfits, my body stands out.
Here's the dilemma. On Friday nights I usually go down to my local pub. It's mostly an older crowd, but the bar staff are in their mid 20s. There are a couple girls on staff that I'd love to ask out. Plus a couple customer ladies that I've seen there now and then. I notice that if I dress in a Charlie Sheen shirt and jeans, I don't get a second look. But if I dress is something that is tighter, I always get looks and the staff pays more attention to me. The thing is, I feel, well, like an egotistical prima donna if I dress like that.
So for those of you +40 guys who are more on the "cut" side, do you dress to accent your body and if you do, how do you do it with good taste? I don't want to be the creepy older guy in the speedo hanging out at the beach.
It's a valid question. Too bad you get so many flippant and wacko responses. Gotta do some heavy sifting in here.
I still have my freakin' gut to get rid of that just doesn't want to die and go away no matter how much I exercise and diet. However - I do plan on losing it, and when it's gone I've thought about what to wear, also, without walking around like an egomaniac in muscle shirts or something. I did buy a nice collar-less dress shirt at JCPenny's or somewhere a few years back (when my gut was small), and it was snug (it stretched, too). It was like a soft cotton/polyester material, black in color, and the sleeves didn't cover my entire biceps, which was perfect for showing them off. I've always thought that if a guy is in halfway-decent shape with a flat stomach - not to mention someone who has good muscle size - he's going to get PLENTY of attention from the gals (and from guys wishing they had his zero gut and muscle shape). Nice shirts only accentuate this. Don't go for the billowy type that tend to hide rather than exhibit one's physique. And IMHO, *some* muscle size on someone who's really cut is noticed just as much as someone who's got really big muscles. The big muscles may or may not be admired (just noticed), but I think the really defined, cut physique is admired by most.
Good luck in your fashion hunt.

Suits are great levellers and hide both good and bad physiques, unless you’re a huge guy.
I’m like you in not looking particularly built when covered up.
But changes quite a bit in summer clothing were my good sized arms and a level of leanness can be show off that would otherwise be hidden under a suite.
I'm glad I don't have to wear one for work!

The last time I was in really good shape, way back in the 90's, I used to wear tight tank tops and strut around like king sh!t. It wasn't until I got comments from a few different people that maybe I should "leave something for the imagination" that I changed my style up a bit.
If you throw it all out there, a woman will have less incentive to tear it all off of ya!
Believe me, women can tell if there is a fit guy under there... give em a peek or a little tease and you will have WAY better luck landing a date! You will get less points for being cocky than you gain from being ripped. That's a fact!

There is NO doubt about that! However, they are all more than likely my Mom's age. I don't even think Cougar would apply... What's an old pre-menopausal Cougar called anyway?
