6"2 170lbs 405 dead
I am not a power lifter by a long shot but a guy told me the other day that I should concider doing some powerlifting after seeing me do 405 for 2 reps.. I was only 175lbs and 6"2 at about 9 or 10% BF.. He seems to think this is a pretty good lift but I have always trained with guys alot bigger then me so I have never really thought of it as good.. Is it really a decent feet for my size or is he just trying to make me feel good lol

My other lifts are pretty pathetic right now because I don't train much anymore, even when I did I wasn't powerlifting I was more into bodybuilding, when i was training full time i maxed out bench 300 for 1 rep.. only did it once and never tried it since.. squat use to be 315 but like i said i barely train anymore..I have prob trained 5 or 6 times in the past 3 months..

405@165 is a fine lift. Nothing extraordinary, but definitely respectable at a local level.

It's not too bad. I can usually do about 4 at 405 and I am 165. Max is 485. I think you would be better off moving up in weight if you wanted to try and powerlift.
Lifting Stats: 335 | 280 | 485
That one extra set or rep is what makes the difference. Just when you think your done, go for more.

Sorry. To be a powerlifter, you have to have 20% bodyfat, not 10%.

I understand that I was just wondering if it was a decent lift for my size and someone that doesn't powerlifting because that's what someone told me.. I meen let's face it 170lbs at 6'2 is not very big.. Obviously I'm not a power lifter I was just curious on if it was decent or not for someone that size who doesn't powerlift.. Thanks guys for the replys

Your size is not decent for your size. Try gaining some size.

OP all the guys with high rep power are dicks to noobs.
If you're 6'2" and judging by your picture you should gain AT LEAST 100lbs if you want to powerlift.
But honestly, you can compete with a 500lbs total. I'd say go to a meet try it out and if you like it stick with it. Bodybuilding is absolutely stupid because only .0001% can actually become pro, but probably 1% of powerlifters can be 'pro' (elite)

No. Most of the guys here are not going to stroke an ego for the sake of stroking an ego. Its a good gym lift but its just a start for powerlifting.
OP I suggest going to a meet and check it out. Talk with people there and see if you can find a good group of guys to train with. Then compete.

Dude what's with the attitude? I never once said I was me strongman I was merely trying to gauge if for my size 405 was a decent weight to be lifting with no powerlifting experience or training.. I never once said I had any ambition to become a power lifter so before you start running your mouth about me having an ego try wing helpful instead of just trying to be mr big shot.. I have trained with alot of powerlifters and body builders.. And have gotten som pretty solid advice from them so if you have nothing good to say or anything constructive to say go some place else because this forum is about helping people and sharing accomplishments.. And guess what, whatever you can lift there is someone out there that can look at you and say the same thing you just said.. So how about you keep your ego in check before bagging on others for looking for advice..
