Has nothing to do with you being a fan of utd. It's to do with you slagging teams off when you chose utd, like most other utd fans, because they were successful. Just how there is an awful lot of older Liverpool fans and why there are a lot more Chelsea fans and in the future city fans. No one is saying you don't love utd.
30 mins drive is a lot more local than Suffolk to Manchester.**Always Pick 3 Crew**

You are insane :O
Also I wouldn't hate on you unless you were such a phucking idiot.
Bashing other PL teams all the phucking team and can't handle being called a glory hunter, soft spot much?
Grow the phuck, go hit the gym or something to loosen that agression *******. I doubt those 230 lbs are all muscles.Hate hate.

Cliffs of thread so far:
- Only time you can justify supporting local club is if they are actually local... ie you know the streets well, grew up with the locals and went to school in the area. At the very least, you must be part of the city
- This of course would mean 90%+ of UK would be unable to support a PL club, because an adjacent city to your village/town/city is not good enough, as you don't know the streets in the same way a local of that city does, nor do you have the same connections
- This is retarded as phuck. If I live in Bedford and support Arsenal (friend of mine) because it is the most local, this is nonsensical as supporting Utd for any other arbitrary reason, because he doesn't know the area any better than I know Manchester.
- ITT: A lot of hypocrites.

Wrong.
Also, I'd like to see you explain to real fans why they aren't allowed to support their club because they don't live in the actual city of it. All talk behind your keyboard brah.
EDIT: Not saying 15 mill is necessarily wrong, but you aren't taking into account percentages of football fans. 25% of fans of PL clubs do NOT live in the cities of a PL club. And even if they do, what's to say the other 75% don't deserve to pick a team? Strong elitist kunt/10.

All I've said ITT is that I had the goalie kit and idolized Ryan Giggs. Admittedly, the fact that they were a top 20 team may have swayed my decision because I wanted to support a club which people would have some knowledge on, but then I'd say the same for any other fan of a football club of a city they do not live in. I didn't know about the PL (was just getting started) but I knew Utd were a good team, along with the others in the first division at that point. But I had no idea if they were first or last in that division, I barely knew what a first division was beyond a group of great teams.

You outright said you don't watch football because you feel you would have to arbitrarily choose a team. But you don't. Watch football, watch the teams, watch how the managers perform and make a decision based on those facts. That would make you a quality fan because you've rationalized it, not 'HERP DERP THEY ARE THE NEAREST CITY TO ME IN PL'

I completely agree with what you've just said. The error is that you automatically assume I am a glory hunter, just because there are some glory hunters doesn't mean every Utd fan is one. If I said I support Reading but lived in Manchester, I bet you would think 'fair play '.
Don't make assumptions.

I think everything is going in circles here. OP have fun supporting united, the only person who knows if you're a glory hunter is you and that's just about the only fact any one has disagreed with in this thread really considering you agree that having a link to your local team is in most cases important in terms of supporting a team.
Rest In Peace Alex James Williams aka wygdwicfy. You will be forever missed man.

There we are, completely different to what you said then.
I stick by that btw. I'll watch local games, support my team. Then i might watch a far bigger match on tv but you won't find me adopting a team to support. You remind me of when the NFL hosts games in London and they provide British fans with info and pictures of NFL teams they might like to support. This is a motherfuking invitation,
The only one you could ever need.

I support Utd in my heart. I find it funny when I get called a glory hunter, because I'm certain I support Utd with all my heart more than most other fans I know. And to repeat myself, I'd support them if I woke up tomorrow and they were in league two.
Also why was this moved into Fantasy Sports forum?

Championship is actually more exciting at times.
Usually top 6 teams capable of winning title.
Top 10-12 capable of getting into play offs.
Bottom 8 able to go down.
More passion, more commitment, MUCH better atmosphere at stadiums.
Whereas the Prem every year - Man U/Chelsea/Arse/City/Spurs. Every else = battling relegation.
Only downside is watching Manish and Steve Claridge on the football league show. Terrible.

Would you support them if they went into administration, every player left, fans pass buckets around to pay players wages? Would you bother traveling 200miles to watch the worst football imaginable? 90mins of hoofing the balls into the corner, hoping for your lone attacker will pick it up (he never does btw). I really dont think you would!
