    Competition dimension utility benches

I'm in need of a new bench and looking to grab one in the next few months. Need something that's 12" wide and 17-18" tall.

So far the Rogue flat bench is at the top of my list because that's what I normally use. I wouldn't be opposed to an adjustable bench though if there was a decent one that fit the dimensions.

If anyone knows of other benches that are the correct dimensions, post them up! Would be cool to put together a database of benches with their dimensions since a lot of manufacturers don't seem to provide them...

All I can add is that I really enjoy my Rogue bench - got it about a month ago. I don't think it can be beat for the price.

not sure how up-to-date that is, but it'll give you a nice overview. i've always been eyeing the elite collegiate, nebula awesome (now rae crowther's, though rogue is coming out with one by end of february), and the sorinex np. all adjustables, though.

I have the rogue bench, did a review on it a month or so ago. Good firm bench but the pad isnt as sticky as i would have liked and the bench is actually 18inches tall not the advertised 17.5 . It was however a huge upgrade to the POS adjustable bench i had that wobbled just when i layed on it.

If i could do it again i would consider these flat benches:

http://www.flexcart.com/members/elit...d=391&pid=3244 (30lbs heavier than the rogue)

http://www.snpequipment.com/images/p...ochure_pg1.jpg (same as bench above) but guy is in dallas tx (30 min drive from me) and i could have picked it up from him to save on shipping. I kicked myself in the A$$ when i found his site 2 weeks ago

http://www.texasstrengthsystems.com/flatbench.html lets you pick what kind of padding you want ( USAPL padding or WABDL/APF padding)

http://www.edgefitnessystems.com/Wal...ugh-Bench.html (has wheels and spotter platform and rubber feet so bench wont move around too much

    Hope this helps

It surprises me how many people refuse to buy equipment from Elitefts because its too expensive but they will buy equipment from their competitors, then continue to go on EFS website to educate themselves for FREE

Can you go in to detail (since the OP is considering the Rogue bench) it might help him in his decision.

What'd you sell it for? Is your neighbor still selling his?

I use the Rogue bench at my usual gym so I'm very familiar with it, would be totally happy with it if I had one but was really just seeing if there was a cheaper option or a good adjustable in the same price range.

Unfortunately most of the other options are really hard to acquire as a Canadian

The OP and I know eachother and have discussed this... however...

Certain parts of the bench only have 2 welds on the 4 sides of the tubing. I'm sure it's strong enough but it looks unfinished.

I sold mine for $160 and my neighbor sold his for $180.

We both bought Pendlay Elite's. not sure if I'll keep it, but so far I like it.

What are the dimensions on the Pendlay? I've looked at that bench before but couldn't find any real details. Emailed Reynolds about it once and never heard back.

It is exactly 17" high, The main pad is 37"x12" and the smaller one is 12" long and starts at 12" wide and tapers to 10". One feature is the drop on the small pad. Most benches have this tip up, while this one tilts back and drops. It seems to accomplish the same thing while keeping you closer to the floor. The pad is slightly softer than the Rogue and I'd say the bench is 3-4x as heavy. Please excuse the depression in the one corner of the bench. I accidentally left 2 55lb plates sitting on it all night and just removed them before the pics.

For the past month I've been using an EliteFTS 0-90 (not collegiate). I'll have a Legend 4 way to compare it to by weeks end. So far the Elite is very solidly built but I can virtually guarantee I'll prefer the extra adjustments on the Legends back and seat.

Haha... I was just teasing. That TDLB is not for me. I got it for a customer who has wanted one for a very long time.

I won't use it obviously... but I can check it out right? Here is a quick hi-jack review.

Its a 7.5ft bar, 27mm, same painful knurling as the TPB, no center knurl. I can see right away why it would add some LBS to your deadlift for 2 reasons... It flexes (I did not load it, but you can tell it wobbles even empty). I'd guess you'll be half way up your leg before the plates even leave the floor. Second is the grip, its 27mm which doesn't seem like much... but you can tell right away.

I admit that I likely get one for myself in the next batch of Capp's bars I bring in. It's cooler that I thought it would be.

If the DL bar is killing you... standby. I have a Black Widow SS bar AND Rackable Trap bar on the way. Dean is also fabbing up my power rack chain safety design this week.

The Texas Deadlift bar definitely adds pounds to your pull. Cool to have if you use them in competition for sure. I'm always pleasantly surprised when I go to compete and a previous PR comes off the ground effortlessly! The 27mm grip didn't help my girly ass weak hands too much at my last meet though

Still drooling over that bench GarageIron... The MDUSA site says it has 7 positions (0, 30, 40, 45, 60, 75, and 90) but based on your pics and the ones on their site this appears to be bull****. Looks more like 4 positions? Does it go to true 90? Might be a good way to still do some overhead pressing in my basement with low ceilings, even though it's still really not even close to the same thing...*sigh*. Regardless, I think that bench is in my future. For $299 how the hell can you beat it? It looks like a tank and the dimensions are perfect. Compare to $600 for the same thing from Rogue...

With the extra adjustments I think they are referring to the additional angles created by changing the angle of the bottom pad. To be honest, I haven't really messed around with it at all angles. I did put it to full 90 but again, that angle is only created by putting the top pad to full incline and dropping the small pad. The pads are at 90, not the top pad to the floor... although its pretty damn close and about perfect for a press.

I almost did order the NP bench... In fact I would love to have it... but this way too good a value not to try first.

Who wouldn't want a bench that can hold up a truck? Better pad gap too.

Are you trying to hypnotize me?

Man the Sorinex bench is sooooo amazing... If I had a Dark Horse I don't think I could resist ordering it, would be the perfect setup. Imagine how strong you could get using that bench and that rack together? Way stronger than using any other bench...

I think he needs taller j hooks. What are those? 5'8"? That 1" hole spacing must be effective around shin height with those.

Nice stuff tho. I held a TSB today and its an intimidating piece of kit. It was 50lbs, that 55lb'er must be a beast.

    check out this bench

    extremetrainingequipment.com/index.php/flat-bench.html

It's made out of 2x3 11 gauge, same as the rogue infinity series. Ive used both the rogue flat bench and the one listed above and they both work great but I liked how the ete bench was heavier and has an option of being bolted to the floor if I ever want to fix it to a certain area.

    thanks for the link
It surprises me how many people refuse to buy equipment from Elitefts because its too expensive but they will buy equipment from their competitors, then continue to go on EFS website to educate themselves for FREE
