yeah... that's a harsh way to put it, but it's true. married and joint bank account at 18? sad story but he almost even asked for it.

i don't care how much i love my (hypothetical) wife, NOBODY is having access to my credit cards and bank account in full. i barely even trust myself with that stuff.

Yup, one of my co-workers. he took her back to court to fight for his 2 dogs. It cost him $8000 to fight it.

The judge said that since he had been deployed 4 times, the she was the primary caregiver to the dogs and awarded them to her (she was cheating, never worked and took have his 401K)

Then he had the nerve to thank him for his sacrifices for the country.

I have been talking with a coworker on breaks recently. He is 24 and makes pretty good money. He also has a girlfriend who works at a coffee stand that is built into the company. I told him that he and his girlfriend could save up money together and buy a house. His response is as follows:

"Well, I can't. I got married at 18, and everything was going great with my (now ex) wife. Then, 4 months later, I got a call at work. My wife told me that I needed to come home immediately. I told her we would talk when I got home from work. When I got home, our place was completely gutted. She took all of my stuff. She also maxed out my credit cards, and I was put $38,000 in debt. We were on a joint bank account, and she drained all of my savings. The worst part of it all was that she was sleeping with a guy who she had known since before we got married and they ran off together. I've only talked to her once we were in court, and I lost my case. I'm 24 right now, and I'm still paying off my debt."

My coworker is one of the hardest working people I know... and yes, he has learned from his mistakes. Probably the last guy on earth who deserves this.

He did divorce her. She was on his account and he let her use his credit card. If she is on the account and the credit card, it's legal.

It sucks that **** happened to him. There is absolutely no excuse for her winning in court, she should have lost and should had to pay everything back. Just because it's a joint bank account doesn't mean that all the money is hers. I bet not even half the money was hers from the sound of what kind of person she is. But as you said he learned from the mistake and is being extra cautious with what he is wanting to do with his life, that's all that matters. He doesn't wanna rush things again.
