Well I just got back from my gym and the resolutioner crowd was pretty massive. Pretty much all the benches were taken up with peeps working on dem pecs. Good thing I'm hitting shoulders today. The bright side is there's a good variety of eye candy to motivate me for my workout.
Okay I get it. I see why and how some of you can be down on "resoultioners". My intent was not to offend and I apologize if I have do so. I also understand that it is all on me to do this and stick with it. I have already made drastic changes in my lifestyle and habits. I can already see a difference on the scale, and I'm sure that's all water loss as I've read in other posts but it makes me feel better to see that number decline rather than keep going up. Thanks for the good advice some of you guys have provided and seriously thanks for the kick in the pants because now I have the "I'll show em" attitude. So I'm keeping my head down and the weights up. Keep checking in, I have a lot to prove. Thanks.

I hope that you succeed. (serious)
There will come a day when I tire of listening to 80's music. That day is not today.

What bothers me are all the punk teenagers that just make a glorious mess out of the free weight area. Take up space, dont re - rack, etc.
My death stare and "are you actually USING that?" usually does a real good job of moving them out of the way. We're pretty lucky though, most of the resolutioners at our gym stick to the cardio area.
My goals-
Today, I want to better then I was yesterday. Tomorrow, I want to be better then I am today.

Our gym is always packed this time of year because not only do we have the resolutioners but many college athletes train there and they are all home for winter break. Can't wait till they go back to school - they like to use the same stuff I do.

we go through something similar, also have a lot of HS athletes starting to come in. That doesn't bother me nearly as much because my son falls into that category. Difference with him is that he lifts year round, unlike most of these guys. He's a freshman and full time travel baseball player that looks like a varsity fullback.

Mine has a fair amount of college-age kids in it. Most go back in a couple of weeks so it'll thin out somewhat. There are a lot of newer older people too, they tend to keep to the cardio equipment so I don't have to wait for anything too long.

Made the mistake of going at 5:00 last night and wow I have never seen it that busy. My gym is sponsoring a 12 week weight loss challenge for the new year and all the PT's were in there training a combined 15 people in the weight area.
Had to help a a new guy out last night, He put a bit too much weight on the incline bench and dropped the bar in his lap, pinning himself to the bench!! Had a quick chuckle while I finished my set of chin ups then helped the guy out and spotted him for his next set.
Those who danced in the rain were thought insane by those who couldn't hear the music.
I used to say that resolutioners wouldn't be crazy enough to work out when I do but the gym was really crowded last night at 1am!

Mine Is the same. A couple new faces but nothing major. I suspect this is due to the fact that the gym I go to is about 95% focused on lifting. It is a loud music, iron gym. I feel very lucky to have found this hole in the wall. And for $9 a month. And they supply chalk

There have been several new faces around my gym since the new year, but I go later in the evening. After 8:00 the gym is pretty much cleared out. There was a kid the other night, using the little back extension apparatus, but he was sitting on it backwards, then doing weighted sit ups. I don't know. I watched from across the gym, between sets, and the extent to which he, red faced, was arching his back had me grimmacing in pain. He didn't hurt himself. Ha! He was a lot younger than me! Later I saw him walking around a little lost, just hitting machines willy-nilly, trying to lift whatever weight happened to have been left on them.
I'm not making fun. He just seemed aimless, without any direction or idea what to do. I didn't say anything, but I sort of wanted to. Ha! He probably has no need of some old man giving a pointer or two. You walk into a commercial gym, not having been in one before perhaps, and it is a bit daunting. The array and number of machines. He just seemed a bit confused. I trust he gets his bearings!

Don't forget the clusterfuk of trying to find a parking spot when arriving at the gym for the next 2 months. Irritates me to no end.
Drives me crazy. No matter how I vary my training hours during this time, the parking lot is still freakin packed.
On a personal note, I'm not very fond of resolutioners collectively speaking. Conversely, I applaud any and all who make a sincere commitment to change their health etc.
Hello everyone I have been lifting for two weeks now with no progress. Here is what I am doing.
I weight train six days per week for 2 hours and take sunday off to recover.
I do cardio twice per day LISS in the AM fasted and HITT in the PM seven days per week.
I eat a spoonful of oats with a teaspoon of peanut butter after my morning cardio with two egg whites
Then I take 37 supplements with a protien shake pre workout
post workout I eat a banana a spoonful of oats and take 10 grams of creatine
for lunch I eat a chicken breast and a spoonful of brown rice
For dinner I have a chicken breast and two sprouts of broccoli'
I then have a casien shake before bed
I have been hitting it hard for two weeks and have seen zero results. My plan is to add 30 pounds of muscle and lose 15 pounds of fat before summer. Should I up the cardio or start lifting twice per day?

According to all the muscle magazines, as well as all the "12 Week Trainer " programs listed in the 'articles' section of this site, you're doing everything perfectly.
Order another round of supplements; you should be jacked in another week..
No brain, no gain.
You can't out-train bad nutrition.
"The fitness and nutrition world is a breeding ground for obsessive-compulsive behavior. The irony is that many of the things people worry about have no impact on results either way, and therefore aren't worth an ounce of concern."--Alan Aragon

Sounds good, I guess I was just to impatient.
