Flu. What kind of muscle loss to expect? How to prevent.

So I have this flu even tho I havent gotten the flu in over a decade. It seems central to the gi tract so keeping anythig down is going to be monumentally hard. I have been bulking but now for the duration of this ill be in a severe deficit and likely cant keep down prot shakes either. What can I expect in muscle loss here and is there any other way to prevent it?

Should I stay at same weights when I lift again?

If you cannot lift properly then don't, or if you can, just take this opportunity to take a deload....or just rest. Eat at maint, and not at surplus if you stop lifting. Recover, and go back in strong. I am currently cutting, and had to stop my cut for a little more than 3 weeks because I was injured. Health comes first. As long as you get your cals in prot/carb/fats....you won't lose any muscle, but when you get back to normal health you might notice a decrease in strength that may take a week or two to get back to normal, but you shouldn't lose any mass.

Don't try to train through severe illness. A few day or a week at a high deficit will make no difference to your long term goals. Just try to get in any calories you can.

You'll lose a lot of weight, but it will mostly be water & glycogen, & you'll gain it back fairly quickly once you begin eating normally again.
