I don't like mixing strength and plyo. The plyo work fatigues the muscles so that I don't feel I'm getting as much out of the strength exercises. And the strength exercises tax the muscles to the point that I don't feel I'm working as hard at the plyo as I should be.

This morning I misread the thermometer and walked Kevin to the bus stop thinking it was 12 instead of -12. My snot froze (gross, I know - Mike told me the same thing ) and my face burned for a couple of hours. I was going to just stay inside and do the treadmill, but the sun was out, the thermometer said it was 15 (with no "-", I made sure of it!), and it's supposed to snow for the next couple of days. So, out I went. I'm glad I did. It felt nice to breathe in fresh air and it's pretty out with the sun and the snow. Had to take it slow at times as there are big chunks of my neighborhood that don't get sun, so the sides were pretty icy.
Hoping to make it to TKD tonight, but we'll see. We have high school orientation for Mike tonight. Not sure if we'll finish in time to get there and change. If not, I'll go tomorrow and then over the weekend. Mike needs to catch up on classes after being sick, though, so I hope we make it. He wants to go to Magic the Gathering "draft" with his friends tomorrow night (don't ask me - I have no idea what that means).https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

It felt nice! I had brought my ski gloves thinking my hands would freeze, but they were too warm. My running gloves were perfect. It was beautiful outside!
I know! He's starting high school next year and this summer is my 20 year college reunion. It feels like I was just in HS.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

Thursday and Friday got screwed up with the snowstorm. They closed school early on Thursday, and then I spent close to 2 hours snow blowing the driveway so I could get out. I fully appreciate having a teenager now. The bank at the end of the driveway where the plow went was up over my head. While I did the rest of the driveway, Mike shoveled it down to a foot so the snowblower could go through it. He saved me at least an hour's worth of work. And he did it while Kevin annoyed him and threw snow at him. Both boys shoveled the walkway.
TKD Friday night and Saturday morning. I think that catches me up.
Cardio
2 miles
31 minutes
The snow banks are too high and my neighborhood stays icy since the sun doesn't hit it, so I won't run outside. The treadmill sucks.
Workout
Plie squats - 30x10x4
ss w/lat raise - 5x10x4
BB stationary lunge - 45x10x4
ss w/bent over rear lat raise - 5x10x4
1-legged RDL - 10x10x4
ss w/front raise - 5x10x4
I liked this workout. I've always like to do legs and shoulders on the same day, so I'm changing things up to do them both 2x per week. I'll do chest and tris and back and bis as my other 2 days.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

No, but I'll send my kids over!
Mike has done the walkways for a few years. This is the first year he has been old enough (and strong enough) to deal with the crap at the end of the driveway. That's the worst part about doing the driveway. It's packed and heavy. He actually did more than I expected. I had blown out about 5' before the bank and told him just to knock it all over until it was only about 1' high so I could get it with the snowblower. He actually shoveled it up and out of the way so that all I had to do was the pile left at the end. So, I told him I'd pay for this next Magic tournament and he got to pick out lunch (he always picks Wendy's - lol). It was nice!https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

Tuesday yoga - 90 minute class
I opted to not workout after yoga for the same reason I stopped going to TKD after yoga - fear of injury. So, my split will be a little funky. Workout/run today. Looks like it will be on the treadmill again. I'm debating about getting a Y membership again so I can use the track. It's tiny (I think it's like 16 laps for a mile), so I'm not sure it will be much better than the treadmill. Plus I'd have to drive there instead of just walking downstairs. Maybe if Mike decides to get serious about cross country and actually runs in the off season I will. Kevin will also need to start running soon for TKD. If he stays on track (which he should), he will start black belt testing in June and part of that is a timed run.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

Weds cardio
1.9 miles
31 minutes
Went slower today. This run was painful. I didn't start until after 5 and I think it's too late. lol. I'm used to running first thing in the morning. But, it got done!
Weds workout
Band assisted pullups - 4, 4, 3, 2
Kroc row - 30x10x3
ss w/curl - 45x6x2
Rack pull - 45x12x3
Hyperextensions - 12x3
ss w/cross body concentration curls - 10x10x3
Went light on the rack pulls to see if my back could take it. Will add weight next time as it seems the motion is fine. Pretty happy with the pullups considering I haven't done them in months.
Thurs workout
Bench - 85x10x2, 85x7
Incline - 65x8x3
ss w/OH tri extension - 15x8x3
Incline pushup - 12x3
ss w/kickbacks - 10x10x3
Was going to do decline, but it's difficult with my home gym setup. I hit the supports. So, I tried the inline pushup. Yesterday and today's workouts were painful. I have a lot going on with my upper body - tendonitis, arthritis. I'm hoping that getting back to weight training will help with some of it, but I suspect I'll have good days and bad days. The past couple were burn days.
Felt good to get in a morning workout today. Boys were with their dad last night, and I had painters coming at 9 so I tried to get it in before. I might try and do this every morning. May be a little tricky when the boys are in school and I need to drive Mike.
I've learned my lesson! If I can figure out how to get the workout in before yoga, I'll do it on Tuesday. But it will be rough since I drive Mike to school and leave for 1 1/2 hours during the work day.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

Cardio
2 miles
32 minutes
It was warmer than usual (21 at 8 am). But, the snow has been melting across the roads so it was pretty icy. I had to take it pretty slow so I wouldn't land on my ass.
Workout
Plie squats - 35x10x4
ss w/lat raise - 5x12x4
BB stationary lunge - 45x10x4
ss w/bent over lat raise - 5x12x4
1-legged RDL - 10x10x4
Front raise - 5x12x4
Managed to get it all done before the painters got here!
It was non-eventful, which was a nice change of pace! Got to watch my son kick some ass on the basketball court. It's time like this that I know some of my genes made it through!https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

Yes, though it's really fair. I'm a lot taller and better on defense. Once it gets nice out, we'll spend a lot of time in the driveway where I will try and get him to understand that proper defensive position, how to do a layup, and how to dribble below head level. You know, the little things that drive me crazy when I watch him play. lol. I figure I have a few years before he can beat me.

Yoga - 90 minute class
The zen feeling was short lived as I returned to the painters. But, they are done and my ceiling and walls look fabulous! I'll post pics when I have a second to pull them off my camera. We've been living with a crap ceiling and multicolored walls (the previous owners tried to "touch up" without matching the color) since we bought the house 7 years ago. I've always hated the living room, but now I love it!
Stupid weather turned cold again. It had been in the mid 40's for about a week and now we are back in the 20's. It was a spring teaser. My mom called to day and said it was cool and she had to put on a sweater. It was 72. (they are in Hawaii)https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794
