No doubt about it, Phil has him beat on stage..
BUTTTT !!! *** I would prefer to look like a prime Levrone just because wow I mean I don't think it gets any more ideal in my mind as to how I wish I could look.. I know 99 wasn't his best, but for example that video where its like a day or so out from the oympia in 99 and he poses outside of super market.. I would just be in heaven at all times if I looked like that haha !!
yet, I mean idkkk.. looking like a prime Phil (which IMO was 2011 Olympia weekend) wouldn't be so bead either lmao

What I meant was that he had big quads in his early years and a somewhat weak back, then in his latter career he brought his back up but his quads were not as big as they were in his early career. So what I was getting at was that if he was able to maintain his quads/legs from his early career while bringing his back up he would have been a force to reckon with.
Perhaps I did not communicate my thoughts clearly, I wasn't trying to say he was never on, just that his legs were quite big in his early days and they got smaller in his latter days and vice versa with his back, if he could have put it all together, he would have been even more epic. I still think he brought amazing packages to the stage throughout the 90's regardless. It's like I am critiquing a win...sorry for the confusion and yes, those guys had better back and legs than Kevin, no doubt. You're definitely right about that. Again, this is all just my personal opinion.

These are always fun threads. Both are obviously in the elite of the sport throughout history. But only Kevin can say he beat the GOAT many times in his career. We know Phil could have done the 2006 and the 2007 Mr O. But even then that was long past Ronnie's run. When you look below, we see just how many times these two showed up on stage together before Ronnie took over the sport.

Arms/delts are tie, but Levrone has better chest and abs. Anyway, like you said, Heath beats Levrone by far from the back and legs, but.. look Levrone's legs from 1992 and 1993. They have better shape & insertions, they jut weren't developed, same for his back.. lacked thickness, it was wide as fuk and his traps were retarded from any angle.
And finally someone posted early years Levrone pics.
Lol at @DOC saying Levrone had weak back or legs, he had the best back on stage after Dorian/Ray/Coleman. His legs were better than Dorian's too. Levrone obviously has better chest and midsection than Phil its not even debatable.Last edited by Riflemancho; 01-06-2013 at 02:57 AM.

It would be such a classic example of "back wins it".
1996 Levrone, 2011 Phil:
Good bye, Kev.
Now, I say it again: Kev looked great, maybe I'm even one of those guys who'd rather look like Levrone than Phil. But people, PEOPLE! It's not even close. Look at that back (Mr.Olympia 2000):
You can argue everything you want about the front and side poses (although Levrone actually does not nearly have the legs to hang with guys like Ronnie, Phil, Kai, Dorian or others), but he gets pretty much sent home from the rear, particularly in the BDB.
He wasn't always robbed with his Mr.O placings, actually I think his nice flow and balance from the front were already taken into account and the reason for him placing so well. It's not like he placed "bad" (brb 2nd place at the Mr.O is a bad placing) despite being very complete + owning the hand clasped most muscular. It's just that he wasn't as complete as others.Last edited by flahexer; 01-06-2013 at 06:21 AM.

It's going to be really interesting to see Phil Heath's physique when muscle maturity kicks in.

Levrone has better delts/traps and has broader shoulders. Heath has better arms and overall quality of physique.

Been into bodybuilding since 1991, non-stop and constant.
I looked 10 years younger for my age the day I turned 33. The pattern remains the same every year. But I want to look 80 like Sean Connery.
I practice science, art, sport and philosophy, therefore, I'm a bodybuilder.

I think Kevin is the least essential member of the 90s Triple Threat. Still amazing, but none of his shows really stand out to me they way Flex Wheeler did in 1993, for example.
Cancers. I can't believe they let the poor man compete in that state. The IFBB needs to start a medical fund. We're dodging more ninjitsu attacks than Flex Wheeler. We're ducking more bullets than George Farah. We're facing more death than a kid leg pressing at Branch Warren's gym.
You can't stop us. You can't hold us back.

Kevin won 22 IFBB Pro shows, Ronnie Coleman was/is the only one with more IFBB Pro Wins at 25.
IMHO, the triple threat of the 90's was Levrone>Flex>Ray. Flex definitely had his spotlight and fair share of wins/shows, don't get me wrong, but if you look at the wins and are talking about their careers as a whole...that's how I personally see it.
Levrone told FLEX in May 1999 that his long-term goal was to win 20 pro shows – he met that goal and managed top five in all events except for two (once in 1997 and 2003).
No one who has competed in 50 IFBB pro events comes close to his feat of top three placings in that number of contests. Not bad for someone who famously took it easy for long stretches of the offseason, putting training intensity on the back burner as he allowed his body to recover.
I think Phil has 7 or 8 IFBB Pro wins, but IMHO the Sheru is a BS contest and cash grab that will always gift the top O placings. Nonetheless, Phil will have his fair share of wins, will he exceed Kevin and Ronnie in overall IFBB contest wins, imho, probably not but history remains to be written.
Phil is still young at 33 no doubt and already has 2 Sandow's, but Kevin also retired at 37...Last edited by Canuck77; 01-07-2013 at 06:51 PM.
