I know I've said this before. But back in Nov 1993 I was on a Navy ship heading from Oki Japan to South Korea. Was about a week long trip because we took our time. But myself and another Marine I worked out with went down to the ships make shift gym to workout. In there someone taped up those now very famous Yates pictures from that year. Just one of those things you never forget.

Look how much fuller his arms were in the pic on the left. It always seemed like Dorian was ready a week or two before contest day. Did he overdo it and sacrifice fullness for that so-called grainy look? I honestly can't see any improvement from the classic black and whites to his on-stage shape.

Dang Dorian is schooling Levrone in both shots above. His rear delt tie-in to triceps is just insane. Then there's the back relaxed pic where he makes Kevin look like a child.

EDIT: And while I tend to think he can be a 'bit' blocky compared to a Shawn Ray or Flex Wheeler, I know from those that saw him in the 90's that said he literally destroyed them like babies on stage. My buddy was at the Chicago Mr O and said Yates was noticeably better than the others. Like anyone could spot it better. So everyone can say all they want but his density and size along with the back/calves/triceps (body parts not always fully developed on IFBB guys) means he smoked them all. Deservedly.

I have 3 videos capturing this exact moment. Dorians back is much wider, but this is because of his wider midsection. Vic is carrying alot more water, so not an equal comparison. Also, look at Dilletts calves, he was monstorous in the videos getting most of the adulation from the fans.
