    lots of cardio while bulking

    Once school starts is when I start bulking. I have to bike to and from school everyday which takes an hour (there and back). There are lots of hills so it is also quite intense cycling. I also play tennis for 1-2 hours 4 times a week. Will this affect my muscle gain if i'm still eating at a 500 calorie surplus?

    imo i would go a little higher on the surplus maybe to 600 or 700 your burning a **** ton of calories there throughout the week and plus training

    it wont effect your gains if your still eating at a 500 cal surplus because it would be your maintenance that increased anyway, thats the way i understand it, you would have to increase your total calories but make them a 500 surplus to your new maintenance.

    yes I mean 500 surplus after taking into account the exercise. I read that doing cardio for too long is bad for muscle growth

    Notsureifsrs? His maintenance would increase as his activity level increases.
    OP weigh yourself now and again in two weeks. If you've gained 1-2lbs your doing it right. If not, adjust your calorie intake.

    yes I know most of this. Just wondering if it has any negative effects on muscle growth. Like will I have sub-optimal gains due to this amount of cardio? or as long as i'm still eating at a surplus it doesn't matter?
