Yeah i guess 1000 isn't the only goal. But it's the only quantifiable one, with the other one being a more vague "looking good".
But i think i'll just got with a strength program - you can't help be pretty big and muscular if you have a 1000 lbs total, right?
Currently leaning towards going back to 'normal' SS when i go back on a surplus, and then switching to Texas Method when i get stuck on SS.
