I'm long over due beginning this. I have been an on/off lifter for about 4 years now, initially to shed a lot of body fat I gained whilst a student, which worked, but I now want to push on and really get in the best shape I've ever been. 4 years of constant training and relatively good diet has been blighted by one huge problem: Alcohol. I've recently undergone an alcohol withdrawal course, including counselling and meetings. I've been dry for a week now, after almost 12 years (started at about 15) of drinking myself stupid 4/5 days a week.
I'm confident I've hit the point in my life that I can break this habit (I resent the word addiction. It's always been my choice to drink or not, and I always chose badly), but I'm going to have a lot of spare time and energy now my life doesn't revolve around bars and parties. So I'm going to throw myself into training and eating right. I'm hoping my addictive personality will click with this new life style and I'll hit the ground running. Long time reader on the forums, decided to sign up and do it properly, and will be around for advice and motivation from all of you.
Wish me luck. And Good luck to all of you with your Goals in 2013.
Peace

Consider yourself followed mate, so let's have it. Get to sorting out your aims bodybuilding wise, read up and ask questions round here as to how you're going to get it done and get straight to working on building up a healthier, better you. And just like bodybuilding kicking any addiction is a marathon, not a sprint, so well done on your first week of sobriety dude.

Thanks
Thanks for the words guys, appreciate it. Just made it through the first weekend sober in a while. Work in a bar at weekends too, friday and saturday night, which is not helping. I've hit all my workouts I had planned this week though, eating right. Rest day/cheat day today though. Get the pizza in.
